I won’t be able to make the Starland show due to family obligations.
I’m consoling myself by going to the show in Vegas.
See you in Vegas, Evel. I’ll buy you a cold one.
A lot of people thought Joe would get the nod. I’m not privy to any ‘inside’ information, but there must have been a reason why Joe couldn’t do it. I do know that his recording studio is always quite busy, and that may have been a factor.
But I think given AJ’s association with A-Mob, Portnoy is an appropriate choice. Helluva drummer, too. I’m looking forward to seeing him in the drummer’s chair, although it definitely won’t be the same.
Thank you, Wayne.
Messages from the Band:
“Today I lost a brother. Anthony Jude Pero passed away. A.J. was the final piece in a band that would become an international sensation and one of the greatest live rock acts to ever hit the stage. His sledgehammer assault on the drums helped drive Twisted Sister and I to greatness and inspired me to rock every single show. My heart breaks knowing I will never feel the power of his beat behind me, or turn to see his face smiling broadly from the sheer joy he got from doing what he loved. I will always remember that smile. RIP my friend.”
“AJ Pero was a force, the likes of which I doubt I will ever have the chance to play in front of again. His drumming was legendary but his heart, as a human being, was even greater.
This April 1st would have been his 32nd year as a member.
In the Twisted Sister world he was always affectionately known as “the new guy”. That is how long and deep our history was/is.
In our hearts he will always be the engine that drove the train. I loved him and today my heart has been ripped out. RIP”

This morning I received the tragic news about AJ’s passing. As anyone would be, I am devastated. With such a loss, even I broke down and cried, allegedly the tough guy in the band. One statement says it all, “AJ was my band mate, my friend and my brother and I will miss him forever”.

My family, extended Twisted Sister family, and I are heartbroken and devastated to hear the news of Anthony Jude Pero’s passing. A.J. was a dear friend and brother to me, and in my opinion, one of the most talented drummers of all time. I will always remember the amazing experiences and great laughs we shared. A.J. always had an amazing sense of humor and did his best to please everyone he came in contact with.
Back in the day, when the band first started touring, we were often room-mates and he never failed to keep me smiling. It’s very difficult for me to talk about this right now. However, I feel that out of respect for his legacy, it’s important for us to let the world know how we all felt and will always feel about him. I know I will dearly miss him, but I’m grateful to have been his friend and musical partner for thirty-eight years.
At this time, my sincerest sympathies go out to his family. Heaven just got a great drummer, one that will live forever in our hearts.

As I understand it, not headline shows – at least not all of them. TS will appear early on the bill on a few of the shows – making life hell for any band that has to follow them. 🙂
This works pretty well – I’ve caught 12 spambots already! Cool.
I love that you can drop videos right into threads on the board now. Thanks for posting, that was cool.
I added a couple more things….
You’ll notice that most of the pages have a sidebar now, with links to all of TS members’ sites and social media.
I also added a login/registration form on the side, because a commenter on Facebook couldn’t find it the other day. And I tried installing another anti-spam thing, but it worked so well that no one could log in – not even me! 🙂 So that went away.
Archive is also now back. I’ll be adding more goodies as I think of them.
You’ll all be able to edit your passwords now, should you feel the need.
Richard UK SMF tells me that passwords are now editable, by the way.
I kicked everyone’s use role up a level. Can someone check and see if you’re able to edit your own password now? Thanks!
They’re a pretty good band, right? I sometimes sit in for Lou (the guitar player) from time to time. It’s always fun playing with those guys. Mark always makes it a fun time.
I started uploading the Slamboard Archive early this morning. It took a few hours (!), but it’s back now.
I’m just going to double-check some stuff, then I’ll add back the link to the archive.
I’ll check around on the bbPres site (the forum software we’re using this time) and see if there isn’t some kind of ranking system like we used to have – but mind you, even if I find one and installt it, you’ll most likely all be starting from the ground up (and will need to post more! 🙂 )
I also just did a little tweaking that should make the site load faster. Let me know if you see an increase in performance.
