Well, unfortunately Patrick, as I’ve mentioned many times, it’s really not possible to write a road report on a show I didn’t see. Due to the number of tasks that I was responsible for, and the fact that those tasks were required during the show itself, it meant that I missed the show. On a few occasions, I saw barely two songs. Many times, it was simply background music while I loaded vans, packed bags, dealt with caterers, etc. So each and every road report would be pretty much the same–a view from backstage, that was the daily grind of logistics. Not very interesting to fans. I wasn’t even able to post setlists–the setlist usually has some last minute changes. But since I didn’t see the shows, I couldn’t tell you what they played or didn’t play.

I did my best–I gave you Road Reports as often as I could from 2003 to 2014. The last two years it just wasn’t possible.

I feel ya Evel. October 1st was originally hailed as “IT.” Then the opportunity came along to finally have a chance to go up against KISS…and I guess the boys just couldn’t resist that chance! Can’t say I blame them!

My limited understanding of the business–and it is a business–is that it all comes down to promoters. If a promoter of a festival doesn’t extend the invite to play or doesn’t offer a reasonable payment or meet other specifications, the gig doesn’t happen. There have been plenty of domestic and international venues that for whatever reasons, were not able to book TS.

The Jersey show is going to be a fantastic day of music–and given the large number of local friends, fans and family, I think it will be a very emotional and powerful performance, so I hope as many slamboard folks as possible can attend.

I, too, wish we could say goodbye in the intimate setting of a club OR a huge festival of 100,000… but sometime tells me we won’t have either of those. My personal wish? I’d love to say good bye in South America, because two of the most insanely passionate crowds I’ve ever seen were there, and it would be a great sendoff to the band. But hey, that’s just my own bias.

    Marty you are correct.

My sources inform me…October 1st is billed as the last TRI-STATE appearance. So sadly, no more NY, NJ or CT shows.
The Mexico show is… the last show in Mexico.

They are currently negotiating another show in the United States. Sorry–can’t say where yet because it’s not officially released. Hopefully we’ll get details soon so that folks who want to travel can make arrangements.

I’m not sure either Patrick. Sadly, these things do occur on occasion.
It is not always the band’s decision–there are lots of reasons why shows get cancelled and/or bands get removed off a show. I have even seen bands show up for a festival, only to be told–you’ve been cancelled, you can’t play.
Sometimes it’s the festival issues…once it was a local govt issue…sometimes visa issues…sometimes other business or legal matters.

This happened to me a few times as well– I think it was two years ago, I ended up with a ticket to Amsterdam for a show that didn’t happen. SMF Cyndi had one for Spain once and they cancelled TS from the bill. Two years ago I had a ticket/flight to Mexico City and the festival fell apart the day of my flight–I was literally on my way to the airport when I found out. In that case, I spoke to a supervisor at the airline, explained to them what happened, and they gave me a credit. Not a refund, but at least I could apply a portion of the ticket it to another flight. I hope you can sell your festival ticket and maybe get a partial credit from the airline.

Eoin– where did you travel from?

The good news is that Twisted Sister fans in Spain are just as friendly and as hospitable as SMF friends from other parts of the globe–I went to many of these shows alone, and found that I was able to communicate almost everywhere–and even with newly made friends who didn’t speak English, we all seemed to find to a way. Rock is a universal language. You might even try checking out both the TS facebook page and the Barcelona Rockfest facebook page to see if there are others from your homeland in attendance.

Good luck–hope to see you there!

A few things–Patrick…the delay in posting is an issue with the software that allows us to post. I spoke to the webmaster and we just have to put up with it unfortunately.

Love Is For Suckers is not considered by most fans (or by the band) to be a Twisted Sister album. It was intended to be a Dee solo album, and as others have said–most of the band never even played on it–their tracks were recorded by others. They released a horrible video–Hot Love is about as non-TS and as cheesy as it gets, and it’s the worst track on the entire playlist. Even the cover of the album…it doesn’t even feature any images of the band members.
Other than “Wake Up the Sleeping Giant,” I rarely play any of that album at all–to me, it represents the demise of Twisted Sister. It will always be a Dee solo album to me.

They have very occasionally played “Wake Up the Sleeping Giant” on tour, but unlikely you’ll hear it on this last go-around. The setlist is pretty much locked in, and it doesn’t include anything from LIFS.

KEEPING FINGERS CROSSED! there is a possibility of a single show after October 1st. I don’t know where or when, it’s just talk at this point. The October 1st show is still sticking as the last tri-state show ever. Sorry folks.

All I can say is this– I do not know how often Jay Jay checks the slamboard, but I know he is on facebook a lot. Make your voices heard (in a respectful manner). Twisted Sister has done many things in the past for fans, so if you make your opinions heard, perhaps it will help.

    Hey Patrick
In NYC, from what I understand (I could be waaaaay off here) you have clubs that hold 2,000 or so and then you have the enormous Madison Square Garden. Let’s be realistic here…TS is not going to sell out the garden. The smaller clubs in NYC would easily sell out, and while that’s awesome for TS, it’s pretty good chance that the last show will draw a lot of people and it would really suck if a lot of the fans can’t see the last show due to tickets. I’ll also toss in that playing NYC is not cheap for the band–you have to put up band members and crew in hotels (no, not everyone walks home like Jay Jay), feeding everyone, etc. and it really adds up. The outdoor festival in Jersey will attract fans from NJ, NY, CT, MA. It’s moderately close to Newark, an international airport, and the hotels in the area and other associated costs aren’t unreasonable.

So it what it is. Maybe the band will reconsider and add something at the last minute due to fan input–who knows? It can’t hurt to ask. I liked the Best Buy/Nokia/New name Theatre too (I think it has a new name again). I wish there was a friends & family show–a little tiny club somewhere where it was open to family, friends, SMF card holders and those who bought thru the website. But that’s my wish–playing small clubs is not always so enjoyable for Dee and the boys.

We have a long way until October 1st. Let’s just see how the rest of the summer unfolds and let your voices be heard.

I have to agree with you Gilles. Lakewood NJ is not exactly where I had hoped it would end. They have told me “Oct 1st is it!” so I’ve planned accordingly too (Had to plead and beg to get off from work that day) My big wish is to see a small NYC club send off for the SMFs.

As for SMF Cyndi- she has had some personal problems but I saw her on facebook last week and she is doing well.

We may see at least one more in Europe– sorry–they have me on a gag order. Can’t say where or when. Same deal with the last show. It’s entirely too early to announce as the business end is still likely being worked out. I promise to get it posted as soon as I hear the official word.

They posted today about rehearsals–and all they would tell me is that the setlist is gonna knock our socks off…and there may be some old school gems there! So something for SMFs of all ages.

Hi Patrick there’s some sort of delay when you post. It’s not just here on the slamboard, I have the same issue with the blog.

There may be a few more shows added–not too many more–but I understand there are a small number still being negotiated. (sorry. can’t release any details) The last show will likely be stateside but even that is being discussed. The Facebook page and this website are the two only credible sources. There are PLENTY of rumors running amok on facebook and all I’ll say is that it’s not official until Twisted Sister management says it’s official!

hi folks… more shows to be announced. The final show is still in the works…I cannot say when/where because these things can change day by day, and the worst thing ever would be to buy a plane ticket and the show gets moved. Watch the board–and please–if you have facebook, the Twisted Sister facebook page and my public Armadillo Terry page will ALWAYS post the dates as soon as they are public.

The last show will NOT be in the UK, I can at least tell you that.

See you on the road, babies!
