A Message from Dee Snider

It’s hard to believe that this year marks the twelve year that I’ve hosted my annual motorcycle ride here on Long Island to support outstanding charitable organizations that do great work. Since we’re referring to the ride as “The Dirty Dozen,” I’m looking forward to bringing together our army of bikers, riders and friends to join me on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Lido Beach Park to once again benefit the work of Long Island Cares, Inc. – The Harry Chapin Food Bank. This is our second year in a row that we’re supporting Long Island Cares, Inc. and the great work they do to provide emergency food and community support services to help more than 320,000 Long Islanders that are impacted by hunger and food insecurity.

For the past two years, I’ve seen firsthand all of the work that Long Island Cares, Inc. does and I’ve come to understand why they often say that it takes more than food to feed the hungry. Founded by the late singer, songwriter and social activist Harry Chapin, Long Island Cares provides a wide range of direct services including mobile outreach services for the homeless, support services for veterans, children’s nutrition programs, two storefront assistance centers in Freeport and Lindenhurst, Baxter’s Pet Pantry, and the massive Harry Chapin Food Bank in Hauppauge. This is a remarkable operation with some of the most talented and caring people working to help our neighbors in need every single day.

This year’s Ride to Fight Hunger on Long Island is going to be one of the most exciting events we’ve hosted. Several special celebrity friends including Roger and J.P. from WBAB, Fred Norris (Howard Stern Show), Jill Nicolini of the Channel 2 Morning News, WWE Hall of Fame Wrestler, Mick Foley and others will be joining us at our new celebrity tent. We’ve streamlined our preregistration process to make it easier for riders to register, and we’re offering special gift incentives and VIP parking for those of you that register before May 31. Our main stage will feature live music by Joe Rock and his All Stars, along with Mark Mendoza and me performing some Twisted Sister classics. Dozens of vendors, food court, merchandize tent, and other cool stuff is being added to make this year’s ride one of our most successful rides.

I’m counting on you to join us to support the work of Long Island Cares, Inc. with so many from the biker community on Sunday, September 7th. Keep visiting our website or follow us on Facebook for updates on the ride and all of the special plans we have in store for you.
