What would they sing? Dirges? A requiem ? That's what I'd sing cause it would be the death of TS. Really. And you know that.

Not so fast.......

Van halen continued, Black sabbath continued, Journey continued, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest. AC/DC, Skid Row, Ratt continued. There are lots more bands I'm sure... All replaced there lead singers....

I mean come on now.... It's certainly possible to get another singer!!!!

Its gonna happen people.... Dee's gonna retire!!!!

^^Yes. But none of them replaced the one person that wrote all their songs. I mean, obviously should Dee decide to leave and they want to continue playing together, they got every right in the world to do so and it would be unfair to them to demand to stop, just because Dee wants to stop, but that said, Dee is the face of Twisted Sister. Dee is the one person who wrote all their songs. It just would be all kinds of wrong, if they would continue as Twisted Sister with someone else replacing Dee.

I've never heard of any other band where 1 guy wrote all the songs???!!

I wonder how the guys in TS feel about that?? Personally, I would feel like crap.... If I was in a band for 10-15 years and didn't contribute 1 song to there catalog...wow....

That's lame on a lot of levels.....

Maybe Dee won't let them do his songs??? Who knows the Legalities on that stuff etc..

Enjoy it while you can kiddies....

JUST MY 2 CENTS..

Yeah. I kinda wondered about that too. I mean, Eddie wrote songs for his solo album and Jay Jay wrote songs. So it's not like they don't write at all. It's also not like a Bon Jovi/Megadeth/Whitesnake like situation where the band is a solo act disguised as a band, with one member calling all the shots. Dee is not the founding member of TS. So how did it happen that only Dee's songs got recorded and released on TS albums?

Dee said in his book that the other members were lazy with writing.

Dee gave his version of the story in the book. And his song writing is a pretty substantial part of what helped get TS to the top. There are so many things I adore about Jay Jay...his song writing isn't in my top ten list. Jay Jay owns the name and brand. Dee owns the rights to the music. (I believe).

I agree with fountainfan.... Van Halen became Van Hagar. Different band. Different sound. Still kicked ass and had a career after. AC/DC, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden all had other lead singers, made new music and thrived. (And look at that--Rob Halford is back again...fans win all around)
Dee will retire from TS at some point, that's a guarantee. The question will be: Does the rest of the band decide to retire TS or do they rise like a phoenix in a new form, with a new singer, new songs and new sound and find new fans?

Dee Snider performing solo is a great act. It's not Twisted Sister....it's Dee Snider, and he performs some TS songs. Twisted Sister without Dee Snider? Wow. I'm not sure. That one will be tough, but with a strong lead and hmmmm.....maybe some new tunes....we could have a new Twisted Sister. Maybe break out the war paint and pink/black armor to help me warm up to him.

One thing's for sure: the time is coming...so you be ready...to show the world to rock and roll! Day of the Rocker is coming. I challenge each and every SMF out there to see Twisted Sister play live in 2015!

I think Armadillo could do it.

Yes, but unfortunately, there's a thing.

There is a height requirement for the job. And I'm a foot too short.
There is also a hair requirement. And I'm as bald as a cue ball.
There's also that singing thing. And my vocal cords are too damaged.
There's the "must-have-a-body-like-a-greek-god" and ruggedly handsome rock star looks....and I'm....well. Need I say it?

So there you have it.
Roadie gnome does not equal rock star. Sorry folks. Auditions to be announced I suppose.

easier for black sabbath tony and geezer wrote 85% of the material during the ozzy years. some of the bands you mentioned though replaced singers very early on before they broke big or in the case of ratt after they had fizzled out

Dee going solo shows that TS unfortunately haven't been successful enough to fill clubs and theaters in America. They do well playing festivals around the world, but haven't been successful playing regular gigs in America.

Your way off the mark............

Dee obviously wants to play ALL of his music not the same ole TS stuff..

He has the 2 widowmaker albums, Love is for Suckers lp, a solo album called Never let the bastards wear you down.. And the Desperado stuff..

Thats 5 albums worth of his music.... That he does NOT ever play... Maybe he wants a change...
Plus he wants to do other stuff. Get it?

This might be off topic. But when TS and DEE is done playing . I sure hope their will be great cover bands that will carry on playing their Music.
The same goes for DIO WASP Motörhead and all these great bands that will go away and has. Or we will lose alot of great music, We will Always have
the records but their is nothing like great live act. The originals will go away but the Music should be played from a stage......

STOP! JUST STOP.
No one has said that Twisted Sister is done! Perhaps done for this year…but NOT DONE YET! Dee doing some solo shows now does NOT mean the band is DONE DONE. So let's not panic, alright?
Let's hold out that Twisted Sister will have a mind-blowing 2015 Tour ahead.

As for Dee's solo shows, I'm guessing Rock10 is speaking about something he hasn't experienced first hand. I have seen Dee's solo show--it was packed, and it rocked out! He played a lot of great stuff--solo songs, Widowmaker, Desperado, cover songs of Priest, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC…. it is a different experience than a TS show, but he definitely had an audience.
