He had a gig tonight. Is this his first solo band since TS reformed? What songs does he play?

Just got home from the show. Tom Keifer opened the show and then Dee played with Brett Michaels as the headliner in Elgin, IL tonight. Dee crushed it! Was very different to see him without Twisted but he still brought the goods. He played a couple of Widowmaker songs, 1 Desperado tune, a few covers, and of course some Twisted Sister classics. There was a few great new Dee-isms that were hysterical. I’m whipped right now but will try to post a full report tomorrow night after work. Stay tuned!

Oh, and just for you Terry, the mother of all Dee-ism's will be shared in this road report! I was scrambling for my phone to jot down notes so I wouldn't forget it! Typing it out was tough because my daughter and I were cracking up so hard. LOL!

Do you know who the other band members were for the show? Al Pitrelli by any chance?

Looks like Joe Franco on drums and a friend of mine from NJ Derek Taylor..on bass. He played with Dee's
SMF band in the mid 90's. Not sure of the Guitar guy or Guys???

The band was:
• Joe Franco on Drums (Twisted Sister & Widowmaker)
• Derek Taylor on Bass (SMF's & apparently he's with Overkill now)
• Dan McCafferty on guitar (played guitar on Dee's "Never Let The Bastards Wear You Down" CD, Dee introduced him as being part of the SMF's but I didn't find any listing for him with the SMF's)
• Joel Hoekstra on guitar (Currently with Night Ranger, Trans Siberian Orchestra and he was also the guitar player in Dee's "Mack the Knife" video among other things) Great guitar player by the way!

Dan McCafferty replaced a guy named "Spike" who played withe the SMF's. Spike is probably credited in any audio or video material. Not positive though.

Also, didn't he play for Eddie O when he had emergency back surgery??

Why a solo show? Seriously? Dee has never stopped doing solo projects. He has done solo performances for years. Because he can!

He has done celebrity jams, such as his performances in Las Vegas and he tried the broadway shows, but he hasn't had his own rock band in a while.

Dee has done a number of special appearances but I can't remember any true solo shows with his own band in years. The 2 solo appearances earlier this year in Vegas and Milwaukee were both charity events where he stepped in to sing 2-3 songs while 80's cover band Hairball served as house band. Only Dee can say for sure but I suspect he chose to play this show to prime the audience in the Chicago market for his upcoming musical. Dee Snider's Rock & Roll Christmas Tale will be here in Chicago from November 4th thru January 4th. He is staring it and will be basically living here in Chicago during that period. He brought it up multiple times during the show last night to let people know that it was coming up. There is another event coming up on August 18th I believe in Chicago that Dee and the cast are supposed to be taking part in as well. It's all about marketing. Some people go on the Tonight Show to get the word out and promote their movie or book, Dee comes to town and kicks ass! What ever works.

Spike is credited as the guitar player on the SMF live CD that is out. I'm don't know if Dan McCafferty stepped in for Eddie or not, though. I do remember someone sitting in for Eddie after his surgery but I don't know who sat in since I wasn't at that show. Maybe Terry can shed some light on that since he was probably there. I will say that Dan McCafferty definitely looked familiar so I have seen him before somewhere. I'm not sure if it was with another band or maybe a photo but I've definitely see him before somewhere.
