Headliners change positions all the time.

2 years ago in Spain Iron Maiden switched with us less then 3 hours before stage time and cut their set nearly in half.

ZZ Top changed with us in 2010 2 hours before stage time at Sweden Rock. They asked us to close and they went on 2 hours earlier then advertised.

Whitesnake and us changed the whole running order of a show in Spain in 2006, making Queensryche the headliner because we didn't like our stage times.

This is what happens at festivals to all bands

It happens all the time.

To say that this happens all the time is a bit of a overstatement. Out of the 30 or so festival i've seen this is the first time a headliner or higher ranked band severely changed position and setlength after tickets have been put on sale and a running order has been advertised. At least festivals, who respect the paying fans don't do that. Of course exceptions are when there are unforseen travelling delays.

Ouch - I feel your pain Patrick! That has to be the worst nightmare ever (certainly it's a fear I have every time I do a long distance trip). Enjoy this weekend!!

Hey Marty, Yeah. It was and strangely enough this time, before leaving, I had a feeling about not seeing them perform. The whole thing kinda feels like an episode of Twilight Zone, when I see videos and pics of them at Hellfest. Like a different dimension. I've been there and more or less saw 17 bands and yet my Hellfest was without Twisted Sister. I did see on Dimeadozen.org though, that I wasn't the only one not aware of the running order change. Other people missed them too, due to that sloppy organization handing out outdated schedules and leaving outdated information on their website.

I did enjoy Graspop though. It was great.

Patrick-- I disagree with you on this point--it DOES happen quite a bit....and worse, sometimes bands are taken completely off the bill. There were a lot of fans in South America who really wanted to see Loudness, for many it might have been their only chance--and they saved up their money for weeks. VISA issues kept them from coming. I can't tell you how many times I've seen running orders change at the 11th hour. I agree that the festival should notify fans in a timely fashion.

The cautionary tale here is when you get a second row spot, don't leave the festival. no camera is worth it.

I really do not want to argue about this. All I can say is, that at all the festivals I've been to over the years (around 30) a case like this has never happened before, where one band just switched places and set length with another band, without any real explanation (like, for example, being delayed in travelling there, making it impossible to keep the original schedule, like what happened with Soulfly at Graspop... if that would have happened with TS, then it would have just been bad luck on my part and no one to blame really). Also, it's different to change things before a schedule has been posted, but once one has been posted, they should just fucking stick to it, unless there is an emergency.

They posted that TS would be co-headliner and promised a 75 mins gig to the fans. It is disrespectful to the paying customer (and in a way even cheating them... I do know why I generally wait until the last minute to buy tickets for a festival... it's too easy to get fucked over, should your favourite band, for whatever reason, drop out, your stuck with a festival ticket and no chance to return it), who base their decision to go to a festival and travelling times, on the promised schedules, to just change things seemingly on a whim (and not make a news item out of it, so more people are getting aware of it). And it is unprofessional to hand out thousands of outdated schedules to the fans and keep outdated schedules on the website and hugely advertise a fucking app, which was supposed to give you the latest news and have that app feature a wrong schedule. But there are professional and unprofessional festivals... some who give a shit and some who don't. Probably I've only been to festivals that give a shit.

The more I think about it, the more I realize, it certainly was not my fault for leaving, as a) I had no other choice, b) I certainly wasn't happy about leaving and c) I checked the schedule, which told me it was fine to leave and I did check the schedule at the time it made the most sense, on the day of the festival (and I certainly didn't leave for a camera... I never would give up a front or second row spot for anything other than a exploding bladder... I left because I had to go check into the Hotel I paid for 2 nights). It was the fault of those fuckers organizing the festival to not make sure that only current information is accesible through their website and to not make a note that the printed and downloadable program has a wrong schedule. And, unlike Graspop, there weren't any schedule notices on the screens between bands or posted anywhere else, also there were no schedule announcements and on both days I was there, I did not see one single schedule on the whole area in the hands of people, that wasn't ripped out of the program and thus was outdated.
