I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but today we lost one of our family here. He was known as "Saber" on this board, and he has been a friend to me for over 20 years. He was an  SMFF of TS since the very early days of the band, and he even sold to me my very first copy of Ruff Cutts from the record store that he worked at the time. He was about as "stand-up" as a man can be, and he was loved by many, and will be missed dearly.

He was a champion of the rock and roll community, and a champion of friends.

Rest in peace my brother...Pat "The Godfather" Egan.

R.I.P Saber - always had some interesting comments and views on here.
Saw this posted on Danny's Facebook page a little while ago. He posted the following link:

Joe - words cannot express how sorry I am.  I cannot even find the words.  My heart goes out to you, I know you were the closest of friends.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you and Pat's family.  May he rest in heavenly peace.  We will miss our SMF brother.

This bad news was a total shock. I feel so bad, he seemed like a very nice guy. I'll keep him and his family in my prayers. RIP

Pat and I would chat via facebook on occasion--he was hospitalized for an extended period of time, but he always managed to make his friends laugh with his sense of humor, even under the circumstances. I was so deeply shocked to read the news this evening on facebook--Pat was such a strong guy, he was just one of the good ones. I will miss him so very much--he was taken from us entirely too soon. My deepest condolences to his family, his friends and his SMF friends here. My heart aches.
Rest in peace, Godfather.

PAT, RIP big fella.

You will be missed from the Sisterhood...

SMF FOREVER.

I had him on FB as a friend... chatted couple of times too, was very funny with his comments on music, and very realistic too.

This is bad news. Never got to know him personally, but only through his posts here at the Slamboard. He was a good guy, no doubt about it. May he rest in peace. My thoughts are with his family and I wish them all the strength they're gonna need to get over this.

In lieu of flower donations, a memorial fund has been set up for his daughter. If anyone wishes to make a monetary donation, email me/PM me and I'll send you the address. I didn't want to post the address here without his family's permission.

Wow! This is a big shock. Never met Pat but we did chat/message each other on occasion and I enjoyed reading his posts. Taken much too young. He will be missed. Condolences to his family.

I hang with two types of people...bikers and metalheads. Often they are one and the same. I find them to be kind, courteous, giving, honest. Completely wild on one side. Unbelievably down to earth on the other. They are my extended family across the globe. To lose one of my 'family' breaks my heart. Sad news indeed. Saber...Rest it Peace brother.

Just had to post once again here. I went to the wake last night for Pat, and the show of love and support for this gentle giant and his family was just emotionally overwhelming to me. I got there early, and and the line to show respect was long....but as I was getting ready to leave, it was just MOBBED. The only thought that went through my mind was you don't see this all that often for us "regular" folk. It was like a cop...or a fireman...or a rock star. And deservedly so. The place was just totally packed, and the line to attempt to get in was all through the hallways, and right out the door. I don't even know if everyone was even able to get in. People in the lot drinking and sharing fond memories of this man we all loved...the show of respect was beautiful to see, yet so so so very sad as he was taken from his family much too soon. MUCH too soon.

He was my musical drug dealer for years and years, always letting me know just what I needed to have in my collection next, and later in life when I had my heart surgery, he sent me care packages to my home full of "music to recover by" as he put it so well, and one of my very fondest memories of him was getting together and heading to the studio to sing back-up vocals on the Twisted Christmas CD...that was an amazing day.

Damn I miss you Pat. So many people do, and it showed last night.

May you rest in peace knowing that you had such a huge impact on so many peoples lives, we absolutely loved you for it, and may your family find just a little bit of solace in that fact...
