I'd just like to thank the band for a great gig last night (and to my friend clive for the last-minute mention about tickets & the gig) - I had a really good time, as did everyone from what I saw/heard/experienced!

I have to admit to not having followed TS, but I will certainly be looking through the back catalogue and buying some CDs .. you've definitely got one Christmas CD sale to me! :)

I really hesitated about bringing my camera to this - mostly because I didn't know the band's (and venue's) policy on taking photos. I spoke to someone at Hammersmith Apollo (London) last week and they said not many bands allow SLR cameras, so BIG kudos to you guys for letting us have good memories of these concerts and be able to share them with other fans (and you)!

I'm cheating & offloading the selection of decent photos to my friend. Hopefully he'll upload some this week, and I'll upload the rest of the decent ones at some point in the next couple of weeks & post a link.

Once again, thanks for a great time, and I look forward to many more years of concerts - YOU ROCK :)

- Ivan

I've uploaded 173 pictures that Ivan took at the Wolverhampton gig. Some are good, others fuzzy and some I probably shouldn't have bothered uploading, but take a look anyway.

There are another 200 pics that I need to crop and enhance. Will try and upload more over the weekend.

The gallery is here.

Some of the better examples follow. Enjoy!

Gallery is here.

Thomas aka Mini-Dee on stage with the big guy. Not a brilliant picture but the only one we got. Sorry, Thomas' mum and dad. Will try harder next time! ;-)

Someone has asked (hi Richard ;-) about obtaining a CD copy of the photos. I need to check with Ivan that it is OK to do so, but assuming it is, I had intended to make them available (in a zip file) via bittorrent after I have finished processing and uploading them here. I will also be happy to make CD copies and mail them out for the cost of doing so - blank CD, jiffy envelope and postage, for anyone who can't or doesn't want to download them. Also, have around 40 pictures from Hanoi Rocks which I will take a look at after I finish the Twisted snaps.

I haven't actually written anything about the gig yet, so here goes .........

Either I'm getting old or my memory never was that good, so some of the dates may be a little out. I saw TS on The Tube and experienced them live at the Marquee club. Think that was in 1982. Remember buying Under the Blade and pre-ordering You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll. I still have that copy of YCSRR on vinyl and spin it regularly. Collected all those great 12" singles with Dee's rants on the B sides. In my later years at secondary school I virtually lived in a denim jacket that had a TS patch covering the back of it. Dee wrote songs that I could identify with, rebellious anthems that you could sing along to and they sure did piss-off my Dad. (I'll enjoy telling him that I went to see them last week and never did grow out of it! ;-) One of my fondest memories has to be the family sat round the television to watch Top of the Pops. Think it was I Am, I'm Me that they were promoting. My parents had no idea what this band might look like - they'd only heard the 'racket' coming from my bedroom. I'd give anything to have a picture of the look on my mothers face when the band appeared on the screen! Think horror and multiply it by 10 million. Anyway, before that Marquee gig, the only live concert I had been to was to see Status Quo. The 80's were a great time for me with the NWOBHM, but it was TS that got me started into heavy rock / metal. Only saw them once more, think that was 1986 at Hammersmith and sometime after that the band fell apart. Roll forward a few years - 9/11. I flew out of Seattle back to the UK several hours before the bad stuff happened. Had a conversation a few days later with some US pals who were keen to make sure that I had made it back OK and Sister came up in it - they were playing songs on the radio. Roll forward again a few years and whilst browsing DVD's I stumbled across the Wacken DVD. I had no idea they were playing live again. I really wanted to go and see them at the Vegas gig this year, but just couldn't do it due to work commitments. That was going to be one hell of a holiday - a week in Vegas and seeing Sister again. Still a shame it didn't happen for me. I kept checking the TS website and when the Hammersmith date was announced I booked tickets. Extremely deflated when Ticketmaster called to say it was cancelled so immediately I booked tickets for the next nearest gig, Nottingham. Even more pissed off when that was cancelled. Oh well, if the rest of the UK dates had been pulled then I would have been prepared to travel to another country. At least Wolverhampton is only two hours away from London by train!

I enjoyed the gig! Twenty years had passed since I last went to a TS gig, but it was like time had stood still when they took to the stage. I have some great memories when listening to the albums - stuff that was going on in your life when those songs came out. Seeing them on stage playing those songs was for me something that I really had to do and am so glad I did. The atmosphere is unique. It's upbeat, exciting, carefree and feels like being amongst friends. I've never actually met the guys in the band, but they feel like friends. They always did care about the fans and wanted to make sure the people who came to see them had the best time that could be had. Going to a TS gig is like going to a private party. Everybody has a good time! Dee is still one of the best frontmen. If anything his voice is better now than it ever was. How MAM manages to get the notes out of his bass when he is slapping it the way he does will always be a mystery. JJ and 'Fingers' put the pedal to the metal and AJ has to be one of the most underrated drummers. What a powerhouse! Fantastic songs played by a great bunch of guys! Twisted Sister rocks and always will! I hope they tour again, but even if they don't I'm glad to have seen them one more time at Wolverhampton. An evening that will live on as a memory for a long time - a bargain, if ever there was one. Thankyou, Twisted Sister.

Clive

excellent photos and a great list of memories you hold!! The Tube and TOTPs!! I remember those when the first came out too. I am lucky enough to be able to watch them again through an old VHS, but this is getting worn out now.

Thanks again for the photos. Thomas thanks you too for the one of him.
