Random quote: 'I don't think Twisted Sister is 'Glam' because that implies glamour, and we're not glamorous. We should be called "Hid" because we're hideous.' -- Dee Snider |

Extreme SMF Posts: 181 | I think the book was good, but I knew almost all of it already, except his opinions of band members, and his life before TS. I think the book could have been shorter than it was, if he didn't always give too many details about things or explain everything too much. When he mentions names, he tells you how the person got the job etc, but he doesn't have to provide all that information for everyone that he worked with. There are not that many things that he talks about, it's just that he gives you his thought process then, then he says "I know you're thinking..." and then he goes on to talk about what he thinks about it today. For example, many times when he brings up his wife, he retells the story of how he met her, and how he kept trying to get her to be in a relationship with him. Also when he mentions his family he says a lot, "I feel lucky to have them." That took up too many pages. He should have been able to fit his whole life story in over 400 pages. Road Reporter Posts: 1729 Location: Baltimore, MD | Hey Rock10... Personally, I wish the book had been longer--I wanted to hear more about the reconciliation and the rise back to the top. Some of the stories he told about his growing up were also in his teenage survival guide, but I read a lot of things that I never knew about Dee before. (and I have a small archive of articles from the 80's) The book is about the band but it's also about the endurance of his relationship and love and the desire to succeed and never give up. I also approached the book (as Dee clearly states in the foreword) that the book is his opinion and his version of the TS story. When Jay Jay writes his book, we'll get a different viewpoint and perspective. If every member of the band told their story, we'd likely hear five variations. As for length--I have a bias here. I talk a lot....I write a lot. I love to hear and read a good story.

I think he was too hard on the band members, but they didn't write any songs.

Nearly A Band Member Posts: 717 Location: Chicago | My only complaint is that it ended too soon. I enjoyed reading his insight and view from his perspective now. I actually wish he had gone into more detail on some of the stuff. I thought he skipped over some stuff and blew by a few things with almost a passing comment. What I really want to read about is his story on how he bounced back and how the band reconciled. As long as this book is just part 1, I'm happy with that. I'm looking forward to part 2.

They talk a lot about the Wacken dvd.
