What are your opinons on King Diamond? He is my favorite singer, and my favorite artist period, tying with Lordi. Thoughts?

Location: ?		King Diamond/Merciful Fate never really did it for me, although I have to accept that he was a huge influence on the scene back in the day. I did try to get into him because on paper you'd think he'd be a good match for my tastes.
For me the black metal thing pretty much starts and ends with the original 3 piece Venom. Loudest band I ever saw, more of a rite of passage than a show.

Glad to see someone finally reply, lol. I'm meeting King Diamond on the 16th of July, which will be pretty cool. I haven't listened to much Venom. I'll go listen to some now!

I just listened to Black Metal and I loved it! "Lay down your soul to the gods, rock n roll!" My favorite part! And yea, his heart problems were a while back. He's doing Skype calls to people who have him in their contacts. If you want to, I'll give his profile to you, he announced it at the Coven Worldwide forums, King's Slamboards.
