Twisted Sister: You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll (remastered)

"THE KIDS ARE BACK"!!! Yes Twisted Sister fans, the reissue of one of the classic albums by the glam pioneers finally gets a real remastering done right and all the legions who wasted money on the Spitfire reissue a few years ago will be glad to hear that this one is well worth the time and effort. Dee and company sound crystal clear thanks to the remastering and new technology employed on their 1983 disc You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll. Many of the songs that still are mainstays of their live performance today are given a major kick on this reboot. It also brings out the fact that this band was much stronger than they were given credit for. This is not the Dee Snider show by a long shot and as you listen to this disc it becomes evident that the band behind him is a much better outfit than anyone realized at the time. Everyone was keyed on the outrageous Snyder but if he didn't have the kick ass rock and roll backing him there is no way that this band would have become synonymous with the glam metal movement.

Dee shows his songwriting versatility on this, their second release with plenty of the heavy metal anthems they are known for like the opening "The Kids Are Back", "Like A Knife In The Back" and the powerhouse title track "You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll". He also gives us one of the best odes to the biker crowd with "Ride To Live, Live To Ride" and then tones it down a bit with the power ballad meant for his wife "You're Not Alone (Suzette's Song)". No one gives Snider the vocal credit he deserves and this is the album that really highlights his abilities. They might have gone on to super stardom with their next release Stay Hungry but for my money this is the album that should have done it for them. It did gather the attention of many and showed the world what Twisted Sister is all about and rightfully so. I still consider it their strongest effort and this update just enhances that fact.

Outstanding album! We're Gonna Make It is probably one of the most overlooked classic songs in the Twisted catalog.

I just wish they would have put more effort into the artwork. I'm friends with the dude at Eaglerock who did them (also did the SPitfire version) and he used the same shitty image. I wanted to punch him, as we had this discussion when the Spitfire versions came out, but I do like him so I let him buy me a beer or 5.
