This is a very great and very true review of the band's live performance.
Twisted Sister – Hartford, CT – January 14, 1985 [Download]
Support for Iron Maiden
This “Live Stuff” is a really awesome treat with some rare Twisted Sister. In 1985, Twisted Sister was on the road as a support act for Iron Maiden’s “World Slavery Tour.” While I couldn’t think of a more impossible task, leave it to Twisted Sister to step up to the plate and for 45 minutes on the stage. Twisted Sister at this point had 3 albums out, the third and current one at the time being a little album called “Stay Hungry.” This show is a great example of just what a raw, hunger and energetic band Twisted Sister was.
This show is a short but sweet show that is heavy on “Stay Hungry” material for obvious reasons. The band storms out of the gates opening with “Stay Hungry” and for 45 minutes deliver a set of NYC style metal that they would become famous for years later. It’s really a shame that more people don’t realize just what an amazing band Twisted Sister was. Behind the cartoonish videos of “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock” was a band that was full of grit, talent and the ability to rip your balls off live. If you really wanna hear more live TS stuff, I recommend their “Live At Hammersmith Odeon” CD that came about about 10 years ago or so. This show is a great rare piece for your collection so enjoy this one!
