Extreme SMF Posts: 158 | Hey All Now...please correct me if I am wrong. All the cerebral onslaughts over the years have definitely destroyed a few brain cells...but.....If....IF....I remember correctly....the Tube was actually broadcast LIVE. Can anybody confirm/deny? Anyhow.....Imagine this performance, going out (live?) on UK TV, about 5pm on a Friday....This is a 30 year old tape!! Its still one of the most frantic, most insane, intense and energetic performances I have ever seen.....by ANY band....and I am not being biased. Just frantic. Dee is...well....Dee. JJ and Eddie are simply burning up the frets, AJ is kicking the drumkit to death....but the one image that is STILL burned into the memory cells...is Animal. The dude just looks plain scary....frightening....the make-up, the costume...the wild hair....the bass getting pulverized...... A stunning performance. I NEVER get bored watching it. I remember (most of) this because....I was back in the UK, watching it on TV. I was 18-19 at the time. I had driven to pick up my G/F ....through a wonderful British snowstorm....to watch this before meeting up with my headbanger friends for a metal night of fun. We were all blown away by this show. The funny thing was, I met the G/F at her grandmothers house. We were both going nuts at what we were watching. Her gran just sat there in shock!!! A big turning point for me. An even bigger turning point for the band. Signed to Atlantic..the rest is history. A Brilliant time for me. I had so much fun back then. Thanks for posting. Evel Phx. Az

Full-On SMF Posts: 79 Location: Warwickshire, England | I can confirm that the Tube performance was shown 'live' just as all Tube shows were at the time, hence Dee doing his very best not to curse/swear! I am also 99.5% certain that it was that Tube performance that got them signed to Atlantic after an exec from the record company saw the show and was blown away. For the record, it was the first time I had seen or heard of the band and I remember watching gobsmacked and amazed at both the performance and the sound....it was incredible!
