Being a musician, I certainly appreciate a good drum solo and the talent required to pull it off. As a fan, I'm not big on solos full stop. The next time you go to a large scale concert (10,000 or more), watch the crowd. When a drum solo or guitar solo starts, everyone sits down. That's been my experience over the years and I've seen hundreds of concerts over the last 25 years. About the only exceptions to this rule that immediately come to mind are Tommy Lee's solo in Motley Crue's prime and Eddie Van Halen's solos. Beyond that, I see lots of asses hitting seats.
