Alas...
I saw most of those bands in the mid 80's...the only disappointment for me was Black Sabbath reunion tour.
All others were very good shows. Love seeing Maiden for the elaborate sets and Judas Priest was awesome. But believe it not, there were two shows that really stood out for me. Both in teeny weeny tiny clubs in Providence, RI at a little place called the Living Room. (both locations.) Joan Jett really rocked out. what a blast! And I also saw King Diamond there--I went knowing almost nothing about King Diamond, and became a fan after that gig. Another great small club band--Fugazi--this was during my punk/crossover days.
There were definitely bands that were better in the arenas and others that rocked out in the small clubs. Personally, I prefer the small clubs any day of the week over an arena. I don't care how many fireworks, whistles, bells or robots a band has, there's some about "feeling the sweat that flies off"...ya, you know what I mean, that just makes the club experience the best. Those of you who have seen Bent Brutha know whut I'm talkin' about.
And another great show? not metal, but David Byrne. Most fun I've ever had at a show.
ps. got my plane ticket today for vegas...whoo hoo.
