Location: Chicago | You're probably correct Jay Jay. (As always! LOL!) I personally prefer the original mix of "Under the Blade" because it sounds more raw. I do see where you're coming from. With that being said, I much prefer the recordings on "Still Hungry" over "Stay Hungry". I find "Still Hungry" to be much heavier sounding. I always felt that "Stay Hungry" was way too polished and radio friendly. I was honestly a bit disappointed with it the first time I listened to it back in 1984 after living with "You Can't Stop Rock and Roll" on my turn table constantly since the day that one came out. It just sounded thin compared to "YCSRNR". It obviously worked for the masses and was a huge success for you guys so that's great. Personally, I still think your best sounding record is still "You Can't Stop Rock and Roll", though. It's got such a great heavy sound. Just my personal opinion for what it's worth. With that said, I still don't think any of the TS studio albums have effectively captured the power that you guys have live. I'll take a great live recording over the studio version any day. Nobody can match you guys live. |
