Location: Virginia | Freedom of speech and expression are very important to me. My opinion of an actor would likely never change regardless of political leanings or statements. (example- Clint Eastwood) However, music touches me on a deeper level I suppose. When Dirty Diamonds and Eyes of Alice came out-I think within the same year-- TO ME a lot of it was about the war in Iraq. (I'M SO ANGRY) Sometimes an album comes out and it's just like the artist wrote it specifically for ME. so then to find out that Alice Cooper is likely a conservative, believes that every word of the bible should be taken LITERALLY and maybe even voted for bush was a little bit of a problem for me. just a little. I still love him, will buy his music and go to his shows. If I had to watch paul ryan walk up onstage to WERE NOT GONNA TAKE IT all the time and TS let him, it probably would have confused and irritated me. maybe I don't mind musicians voicing political opinions as long as they say what I want to hear. at least I'm being honest. look at the SON OF DETROIT saddled with that romney endorsement. sad. yes, my opinion of him has changed but that is also in part because I dont like country music. |
