Maybe it's just me and you on this, Cyndi... but what is so terrible if there is a new wave of popularity? what is wrong with a new generation of Twisted Sister fans...I mean, they already exist. How many times have we seen kids at shows with their SMF parents. The kids know the music from their video games. Never seen a music video, never seen an album cover, never even knew the Twisted Sister "look." They love the music--and I hope that is part of Jaysin's point--it IS all about the music.

Give me my two frickin' chords and lets' rock!

Terry, you made me laugh with the "Kick and Ass". That was funny. Well crafted. But for me, I gotta say, with TS, it's not all about the music. It's something else.

And honestly, Terry, not fired up at all actually. No use of caps or exclamations to express any fiery attitude. Just good headbuttin conversation. Ok? No hostility or spitfire from my end. ~

My point was pretty much in response to this: "..the more people that hear Twisted Sister, the more people will understand why us SMFs love them so much."

That statement just bent me, brother. The public will basically hear 2 songs, right? And these songs are simply NOT the reasons we love TS. Yes, we all get a kick out of hearing TS used in such a broad variety of mediums. It's a kick when they pop up in a commercial, a video game or are suddenly blasting loud in a sports arena. But this will not help the people understand "why" we love TS.

As far as TS gaining more fans? Well that's a given...sure...yeah...terrific. That's super and swell. The more the merrier, right? Hell, I became the I am as a result of hearing WNGTI for the first time. It all started on that day in May of '84 and then it really did something to me the 2nd time I heard it a month later in late June. I was hooked. Going on 28 years. Wow. So I would be a flippin hypocrite if I was against the idea of more exposure for TS. If it can bring joy to someone else the way they've done for me....well...obviously that's a very nice thing.

But your comment wasn't just about them gaining a bigger fan base. I reacted to that "need for approval" from others. Why does someone's understanding of why we love TS so important? Shouldn't we just be content with what makes us happy without needing the "world" to know why it has that affect on us?

I'm sorry I just don't understand that need of approval from others. They're a rock'n roll band. There are thousands of rock'n roll bands. Each band giving a group of people the same love we have towards the band that sucked us in.

I guarantee there aren't many people, if any at all, out there exploring everyone else's intense "guilty pleasures", if you will, in search to understand why that is.

I love this quote: "If everyone agrees, someone's not thinking." There needs to be such a huge variety of all sorts of flavors (be it food, smells, sights, sounds etc) to satisfy all the different tastes that people have out there. People ask me what my favorite band is I say it's Twisted and Savatag and they usually ask about Savatage because they never heard of them.

Anyway, there's definitely music of all genres that I can't friggin stand. Polka, Gospel, Country(for the most part). Oh geeze, Creed...ugh. Can't stand them. But obviously they have a huge fan base. I will never understand why but that doesn't mean those fans are wrong for feeling that way. I respect pretty much everyone's POV as long as they're not hurting anyone. But what IS annoying is when someone pushes their POV's/beliefs on others and that's kinda what triggered me to respond. And I'm not talking about basic sharing of tastes /opinions.

I had a girlfriend/fiance from '95-'02. She took me to see The Kinks, Moody Blues, Phish, No Doubt, Sublime, Grateful Dead, Roots, Fleetwood Mac.... And I took her to see Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, Twisted, Savatage, Poison, Ratt, Rage Against the Machine, Cinderella...

Maybe your initial statement didn't come across the way you intended. Terry, I know why you love TS. You know why I love TS. Or maybe we don't really fully know why each other loves them the way we do. We all might love them for a different reason. There are undoubtedly a lot of similarities between the SMF's reason for fanship but probably some differences too.

But at least TS knows you love TS. Holy shit do they know how much you love them. You're spending your kid's(assuming you have kids one day) entire college tuition on traveling to see every last show possible. And I hope to see you at a show again sometime in the not so far future. And you can tell me why you love TS so much. It's because of WNGTI and IWR, right??? j/k! I listened to your "happy place" story.

Oh and Cyn...it's, "I couldn't care less". I'm gonnna give you an encore...IT'S ABOUT FRIGGIN TIME!!!!

By the way, you guys need to listen to some Savatage! Fuckin amazing. 4 rock operas. 5 part vocal counterpoint. Incredible use of effects. Riffs and solos that soar with creativity and taste. CHECK IT OUT! NOW!! JOIN THE LEGIONS(their version of the SMF's)!!!! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!?! GO!!!! STOP READING!!!!!!
