Wait wait wait a second. The reason we love TS is NOT because of a couple hit songs. And those "needlessly to name songs" are the only songs that the general public will ever likely hear of their catalogue.

I'll also go as far as to say (and Jay Jay & co, I'm sorry for this one) if Dee Snider was not in TS, many of us would not even be here. Let's say it was Kevin DuBrow who fronted TS instead of Dee. Shit I love "Metal Health" and "The Wild and the Young" but it was Dee Snider's outrageously charismatic personality within his signature thematic messages that grabbed our attention and has entranced us and made us the fans we are today. And it wasn't JUST because of a few simple tunes. And their tunes, I'm sorry to say, are extremely simple. It is far from the musicality of Steely Dan, Rush, Van Halen or Widowmaker. TS tunes are very basic. Shit, "I A,m I'm Me" has TWO friggin chords in it! Twisted Sister is more about the attitude than anything else. And of course all bands of some sort of attitude but for whatever reason, THEIRS speaks to US on a level that makes us fanatics.

So who gives a flying fuck what the "public" thinks of them or us?? Why does anyone here need the public's approval of why we are the fans we are? Ugh I feel I'm talking about Mormonism. There shouldn't be this crusade of spreading the TS message. That's such a complacent stance.

I seriously hope none of us expects the public to have that "lightbulb" go off and say "Oh my god, those SMF's were right all along! I don't know why I didn't realize it sooner! Wow, Twisted Sister is soooo great!"

If you are consciously expecting anyone on this earth to have some sort of realization of why something(in this case the music of Twisted Sister) speaks to you so deeply wouldn't you then be expected or even required to return that same gesture and understand why your next door neighbor is so captivated by....Jimmy Buffet?

Why are WE owed that respect to be understood?

I can can make a million comparisons. I like Vanilla, you like chocolate and someone else like strawberry, butter pecan, mocha etc etc. There's no rhyme or reason why one person prefers one taste over another. We're all wired differently. Shove strawberry in my face as much as you want, it's not going to make me understand why you like it so much. And there's no need to have the approval of someone else. Be content with your preferences and respect others as that's probably what you are at the very least looking for.

Ya know, to go "platinum" means selling 1,000,000 units. That's currently less than 1/3 of .01% of the US population! More people will not like or couldn't care less about an artist's creation than like it, nevermind LOVE it.

How many people here like Lady Gaga? Like it or not she's an incredible artist; the late Amy Winehouse as well. How about Regina Spector? Very innovative! At the very least I hope people here can appreciate why they are so revered, acclaimed, admired and successful. I think they're all amazing artists and their music is a lot more interesting than that of Twisted Sister. But so what. The musical creativity of TS is not why I love them so much.

When I heard TS for the first time something triggered inside of me and I wanted more and over the years that craving never let up. I don't know what it was and I didn't care. At first I was driven to discover why I was so drawn to their sound so much and my discovers lead me to previous albums that, I don't know why, but, I just liked it. Then "Come Out and Play" came out and I loved it, meanwhile so many of their hard core fans hated it and the general public pretty much rejected it.

My fanship for them never waned and at this point it doesn't look like it's ever going to fade. It's not something I can control. I can definitely I can see why people wouldn't like them or even can't stand them but big friggin deal, what does it matter? And it's not important to me for them to understand why I am an SMF.

Nobody here wants to have shit shoved down our throats...well....you know what I mean. Suck it baby!
