I absolutely love these guys. I really do. I've always called y'all my Twisted Family.
Each band member has such tremendous professionalism, commitment and talent--and they just plain love and value the fans. I can't tell you how many times I've seen these guys, exhausted and sleep-deprived, but still go and sign autographs or stay and chat with fans. Did you ever notice how many times, Jay Jay will single out a fan and give him or her a pick during the show? Dee once signed an autograph....right in the middle of a show for a young fan, since he knew there wouldn't be a meet and greet after.....
Mark, AJ, Eddie too---all of them will stop and talk to fans, take photos etc. Dee once walked across a frozen parking lot in Poughkeepsie to talk to Brian, Cyndi and I [YES. frickin' Poughkeepsie, okay?] even though it must have been 20 below. It was the first time I met him, and I distinctly remember him saying to Danny, "Hold on, I gotta go talk to these guys...they're out here freezing for me..." After Colorado, Jay Jay sat with a whole group of fans and just chatted....and I'm sure he must have been tired...but those fans were thrilled. They'll remember that moment forever.
I adore the road crew--who work tremendously hard to bring us the best sound, the best lighting, the guitars and drums tuned up--they keep the band running smoothly Their manager, Danny, completely understands the passion of fans, and has gone out of his way on more than one occasion to make the concert experience special for a few lucky and deserving folks. (I still think about those front row kids in Oulu--it was awesome!)
And of course, the SMFs, my Twisted brothers and sisters. There is a bond between SMFs--- I haven't seen it with other fan bases. There are no fans in the world who are as loyal and passionate as SMFs.
It just never gets tired for me...... I love hanging out with SMFs....love seeing the show....love chillin' with the crew....and love basking in the glow of greatness--to experience a Twisted Sister show, is to be in the presence of heavy metal royalty. |
