Location: Baltimore, MD | Hi Gilles and SMF-Quebec--
First...I actually walked RIGHT INTO Jay Jay in downtown Old Quebec.... my exact words to him: "Boy you never know who you'll fucking run into in Quebec!"
The crowd....well, here's the thing.
A good majority of that crowd came for the festival--and stayed for the concert. It is not radically different from the Kotka Sea Festival in Finland (except the fans there were much, much drunker) or Q-Stock in Oulu, Finland. Again, both big carnivals where people were bringing kids and families to eat delicious fried food and ride little go-karts....bungee jump...whatever. So many of those folks probably had NOT heard of Twisted Sister, although I can tell, those folks in the wheelchair section were rockin' their asses off!
It's one of those things I suppose when you play a festival. You get a mix. We saw this in Vegas at the Twisted CHristmas shows. The casinos comp a lot of tickets so you get all these tourists who have NO IDEA what is about to happen!
It was not the same vibe as some of the European countries....and nothing like South America...but I think Dee won the crowd over in the end, and it seemed like by the time Dee got to "I Wanna Rock" the crowd was into it. They may not have come as a Twisted Sister fan....but I suspect they left as one. |
