I was lucky enough to be there but I nearly didn't make it for personal reasons as I only picked up my phone messages as I was leaving the arena during Alice Coopers set.
What I didn't know until then was that my baby girl had gone into hospital with suspected meningitis. Obviously had I picked up my voicemail when it was sent earlier that afternoon it goes without saying that I wouldn't have stayed to watch Twisted Sister or anybody else for that matter. As luck would have it she was ok and they kept her in for a couple of days just to make sure.So maybe somebody was looking after me that day.

I had been to Donington many times through the years when it was known as Monsters Of Rock but I hadn't been to Download since they had moved the arena from the middle of the racetrack so I was looking forward to checking it out.I met up with Richard and Funtazia Dave on arrival and asked them if they had seen anybody else yet. They said Dan Bach was around somewhere but hadn't seen any of the other UK SMFs.After catching the back end of Rock Sugars set I decided to make my move.

I got myself to the front barrier for Dios Deciples and remained there for the next few hours through the sets of Mr Big and Cheap Trick until Twisted Sister came on stage. That's dedication for you! When I got there I couldn't help but laugh as I saw who else but Dan Bach stood sidestage talking to all the crew members! The flukey bugger!! Well done to you mate, I can't wait to see the photos.

By the time the TS intro tape kicked in I was desperate for a piss but I wasn't gonna move for anybody. For the next 55 minutes it was business as usual for Dee and the boys as they kicked ass whipping up the crowd into a frenzy and getting everybody singing along and punching their fists into the air. There was a couple of surprises in the set list which included Catain Howdy - not a number I would have exected them to play in such a short set.As ever I absoloutely loved it and the audience was totally won over.

The only cause for complaint that I had was based on two things that resulted out of a shortened set.
1- Did they really have to use the AC/DC song as an intro because it actually accounted for 5 minutes of their set? This time would have been better spent performing one of their own tracks and just being introduced by Danny and coming straight on to WYDKSCHY!
2-Less set time meant fewer raps by Dee which is always one of the best parts of the show.

All in all a fantastic day for everybody and another legendary UK performance by the band.Come back anytime soon.

Rocky Randall, I tried looking out for you but never saw you down the front I hope you enjoyed your day as much as I did.

It goes without saying that I couldn't make the London gig as my daughter had nly just come out of hospital.
A shame but as I'm sure Dee would agree - family comes first.
Dee,Jay Jay,Eddie,Mark and AJ I thank you once again for the pleasure that is a Twisted Sister Live Show!
