OK a week has past since I have returned home and finally I have a chance to add my thoughts to this great show.

Firstly I'm going to get some thank you's out of the way - to George - for a my piece of New York chessecake - my introduction to such a wonderful desert will remain with me and adds to so many great memories I have of that trip. To Terry (Armadillo) for being such a great host whilst in USA - your company was a pleasure - as was your great choice of eating places - although my bathroom scales didn't like you much when I added 8lb in just a few days!!!! To David Bonsey at Skinner's Auction's for extending his invition to us to the Saturday evening to The Pinkburst Reception (and then for not throwing us out when we arrived in jeans) and JJ for his interesting, entertaining explanation as to why each piece was so special.

I would also agree with Gary and thank the staff at Best Buy Theatre - it is so unusual to find a venue with such a decent cabbage patch (I hope that doesn't offend anyone - but it is what we UK crips affectionately call the wheelchair area!!) - usually I find myself so far at the back I end up watching the crowd watch the gig, not feeling part of it but last week I felt right in the middle of it all - my only observation would be the lack of option to join the guys in the crush at the front - but after Terry's report of poor sound at the front I'm glad I stayed 'in the patch' and had a great view and great sound. My final thanks goes to all the SMF's I met for making such a memorable trip for me, SMF Cyndi, Brian, MML (Terri), Steve, Captain Howdy, RockyRandal, Mitch, Donna et al (I'm sure I have missed too many people off) and of course our very own webmaster who I had the pleasure of meeting in Boston .

This trip fulfilled my desire of seeing Twisted play in their 'hometown' and proved to be very special. It happened to be my 25th show of the reunion era and my 6th USA show (although the previous 5 had all been Xmas shows). I was in no way disappointed - and although I can recall each and every show and pick out something unique or special from it - NYC will stand out for so many reasons.

The most surprising to me was how surprised the US audience was by the set list. I guess being UK based I have seen them predominately in Europe (6 different European countries) where YCSRnR remains probably their biggest selling album (compered to SH in USA) therefore they do tend to play songs from it - i.e. I Am I'm Me - is probably a given at every UK show but rarely played in US. Therefore I wasn't too shocked to hear 'We're Gonna Make It' - having heard it played in Sweden in 2007 - I also thought I had heard Tear it Loose live before - although checking my notes on returning home I don't think I have. Sin After Sin was a definately highlight for me - both SAS & TIL took me back to 1983 and playing both sides of my 7" & 12" singles non-stop.

As highlighted by so many the 'signing' of The Price was a nice touch - and surprising moving by the Rabi. I admit the introduction of Bernie Williams was lost on me - although it's cool seeing a sports star know all the chords and all the words - clearly he's a fan not just someone seeking a free ticket. It was good seeing Twisted greeted by so many old-school SMF's and each of the guests getting a warm reception - although I was a little surprised and disappointed at the (preceived) disrespect they showed JJ and Dr Foster when they were talking about Uvietis.

So many other memories of the night will stick with me - seeing Dee elbow the photographer when he didn't heed his inital warning, see Danny be carried forward by Animal to accept his 'round of applause' for working for free, seeing the raod crew coming forward to receive their acknowledgement - and Animal torment and bully his tech when ever he runs on stage to rescue Dee's mic stand etc.

I'm now aware this post is starting to reach 'Offical Road Report' length (but not being as entertaining) so I will look to end this soon. As discussed so many times, the only downside of a Twisted show is the 'Twisted hangover' you exoerience afterwards - that empty feeling you have when it is over - not knowing when the next show will be. After NYC I did at least have the excitement of heading up to Boston to experience the auction - an experience that proved to be more then I could have expected. Even after this complete (crazy) trip was over (100 hrs from door-to door in UK) I still have the comfort of seeing Twisted play Donington in June - but what then? As always I fear my last show will be my last ever Twisted show (my first show back in in 1986 nearly was my last, had it not have been for the reunion). My fear was not eased by Dee's comment towards the end of We're Gonna Make it' when he added 'take this with a big pinch of salt' before screaming the line - 'and we're never gonna stop'. With Dee's upcoming commitments (?West End run of Rock of Ages in London next year etc) this may have been my last US show - however it will be one that sticks in my mind forever (as long as I don't get dementia or something equally as awful) and gives me a huge amount of pleasure.

Thanks for reading (if you stuck with it!!)
Dave
