part of the problem - is the absense of Chris Degarmo
( When I say Problem - I have not heard the album - so I cannot comment on that )
I mean that Chris is as important to the band as Geoff Tate.

I have seen Queensryche at least 20 times. I have seen them at their best and at their worst. ( even in recent times - on the Iron Maiden tour in 2001 they were horrible - and with Judas Priest last year I thought I was seeing them in 1985 - totally on - having fun, sounding friggen awesome ) go figure.
Funny Story I will post at the end from an old tour.

Chris was more important to the band in his writing. I think it is going to be very hard to get the power of the original band. Its no different than with say Iron Maiden. You needed the complete band. They did amazing work after Adrian left - Janic filled in fine. But Bruce has an energy in the studio that Blaze couldnt replace. You ever hear Bruces rendition of THE CLANSMAN - wow. Aerosmith doesnt work without all 5 guys - period ( and I hate Aerosmith - but I do respect them ) Guns and Roses isnt Guns and Roses without Slash and Duff!!! Fleetwood Mac needs Christine, Lyndsey and Stevie - all at the same time. HELL - Styx only has 1 original member.

I will buy the album, I will see them tour - and I will go with an open mind. They have entertained me long enough - that I owe them that ( and remember - thats how they make thier living -- -Touring and sales - keep the downloading to a minimum people.

Now for the story. In 1988 or 1989 ? I think. Myself, Tanya and 2 others. She loves Def Leppard. We were not able to make the Hartford show - but I got amazing tickets to the Meadowlands ( show in the round ) 9th row dead center. ( whatever that means in an - in the round show - ha ha ) Funny stories from the 3 hour drive - but at the concert -- saw Queensryche first - - A M A Z I N G - they were totally on that night. Tanya, being a music teacher ( student back then ) and being clasically trained - was blown away by Goeffs voice ( if you remember - he as trained as an opera singer )
Between the sets -- my STUPID DRUNK ASSHOLE friend Carey notices that Billy Squire is sitting right in front of us. He taps him on the shoulder and says ( like the asshole he was and probably still is ) "Didnt you used to be Billy Squire" All I remember was "Fuck You", and Billy got up and left - and never came back to his seat.
Carey during the Lepard set says to his date - Christine I think - -Hey - at least we can see better now. It was the only show I ever went with him to. And after college I never spoke to him again.
