This is to those SMF that were around back in the day.
Which era of Twisted Sister did you like the most and why?
As a younger SMF all I can say is that I enjoy each album as much as the other and all the videos are awsome too. |

Location: Noo Yawk | My favorite era was before they got signed - when you could go out just about any night in the week and see TS live.
I used to play the club circuit back then, and when my band got a night off, we'd have a choice of 10 clubs where we could go and see a band and drink for free. Since we only had one or two nights off per week (everybody worked 4-5 nights a week back then), we'd go and pay to see TS.

thats something I never saw
since 1983 I have to say I have seen the boys about 15-20 times
but I have to say - that Bent Brother show at Tuxedo Junction a few years ago - was just awesome
Combo of the music - and the jokes that band was making at each other ( specifically at DEE or JAY asking for DR. Scholls for the boots ) They were having fun - and it came out in the music. I brought 5 newbies that night - and 4 of them have seen TS again since. |

Sure was. I was pretty blown away when I saw TS at NY Steel - but to see them in full regalia again was mind-blowing.
Still - Thursdays at Cheers were the Shizzle. Or Wednesdays at Speaks....
You could not go wrong seeing TS in those days. Some things never change.

As much as I shared and was estatic in the fact that the Boyz finally made it, and no other band deserved it more then the Boyz, I knew that night in the factory that it was an end of an era. A double edge sword so to speak. On one hand they finally got what they deserved on the other I couldn't just open a paper and go see the most intense, professional, crowd loving show in a bar. Man, you can't beat that.
Seeing Bent Brother, INGUN ;-) , can bring ou right back to them daze. |

| The early days were great, seeing them play 3-4 sets a night..putting on "the Gong show" never knowing what would happen. The later years were amazing, watching the band develop and become the ultimate force on any stage they played. |

In the real early daze I remember, mostly speaking to Jay Jay and Dee, the Boyz asking questions like, did you like the show- which any band would ask, then taking it a few steps further, what did you like what didn't you like etc etc they were probably looking for ways to tweek the show. It seemed every year they were around they just grew and grew. Refining the show and tightening things up, lets not forget Charlie (Sixth Sister) Barreca had a hand in this. They were imho the best sounding band of the era. |

I don't know exactly how old you are, all I know is that you are still in school. But believe me when I tell you that even back in the clubs, you just knew it was going to happen for TS. The third time (first time - Calderone Concert Hall, 2nd - Adventure's Inn Amusement Park) I ever saw Twisted live I was just 16 years old and I was snuck in the back door of a LI club known as Speaks. My job for the night was to watch the little red light on the video camera to make sure it didn't go out. LOL.
The energy was so different in the clubs. The smell of smoke and alcohol and everything seemed so dangerous. And Dee and the boys were like two feet in front of you. The music was so fucking loud and yet clear. Charlie's mixing was amazing. I guess I really can't do it the justice I wanted to. You'll just have to believe me, it was incredible.
After the show ended, the most dangerous part of the night was still to come. I got a ride home from Moto (early TS road crew) in his pick up with bald tires in the pouring rain. He was careening around corners while bragging about just how bald the tires were. The bad part was he never looked directly at the road. I was never so glad to see my bed in all my life. |

I'm glad they finally made, you say you just knew it was gonna happen. If they didn't, I couldn't imagine all these years later without TS. Not only are they my favorite band, but they're my biggest insparation to shoot for my dream of being a musician, if it don't work for me, oh well, I still know how to play..lol
BTW I'm in High School, been a huge SMF since 7th grade, been a casual fan since 5th or 6th. |

What was the rock club in Long Beach? I know I used to Randy Jackson there all the time ( Zebra )
Heres a trivia question - at NY Steele - when everyone came out at the end of the re-encore of WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT - - Baz came back after doing Rocky Horror. The rest of the bands came back ( Hey - hate me for this - but I like Bush in Anthrax more than Belladona ) There was a woman on stage in leather - I cant remember her name - or the band that she was from.

Location: Chicago | If I had to pick only one era, it would have to be the "Under the Blade/You Can't Stop Rock n Roll" era. I love the early days before they had a record deal but being that I never lived in NY, I didn't have the opportunity to see them or even hear about them until after there were signed. I think the "UTB/YCSRNR" era still captured the raw energy and determination to take over the world that the early days had but with a more defined sound and more consistent song writing. Plus this was my first exposure to TS so I guess it just naturally stuck with me because of that. |

That was Doro Pesch and she used to sing for Warlock. And she was hot as hell in the day! Unfortunately I wasn't at that show but I've seen the pictures. |

Location: Central Virginia | Well, I had to be different I went for the Come out & Play era. Not being from the area, I didn't have a lot of exposure to them in the early days. But I guess the coolest part of that time was that everyone knew who they were, even my non metal friends had heard of them and thought they were "ok" It's cool to like a band that other people don't know of, makes you feel like part of a secret club or something, but it's also way cool when you can share that music with your friends. And the PMRC days, who can forget that! Ole Dee had a few surprises for Tippy! Like the fact that he was an intelligent man who could articulate his thoughts quite well!
And Besides that COAP had the coolest album cover |

Location: Long Island | Hey RJ, That encore of WNGTI was something I'll never forget. Didn't know who that woman was but it looks like someone else has answered that elsewhere in the thread. As far as Mulcahy's is concerned, it depends on what you consider good shows. Baz played there a little while back (I would consider that good). I think they still try to keep it rock based. I know that one of Danny's other bands (I believe it's Almost Queen) played there not long ago. A good while back I believe Warrnat played. Looking at the website (http://www.mulcahys.com/) it looks like WASP is coming up. My g/f grew up a few blocks from this bar and every now and again I'll see what's lined up when we go visit her parents. I've never actually gotten to a show there because it seems like they're often on a date I can't make for some reason. So I don't know the sound of local bands that they might bring in. Any way, hope that gives you a little info as to what's up at Muchay's now.

| Has to be the Under the blade era for me. It's when I discovered them and they were still "our" secret. It did alter my perception a bit as I liked a lot of the bands from that time and figured they all would be famous. But in hindsight, after thousands of shows it's obvious that TS were/are special. They had the drive and the "it" factor that so many good bands don't. |

COAP is a cool album cover, cool album too, I think it's an underrated album.

Location: on a Twisted planet | I voted for Stay Hungry era.........i mean....i SIMPLY LOVE every TS era.....but i wasn't able to be in the Club Daze when they kicked ass because of 2 reasons.....1: I was born in '81...2: i was born in Macedonia......WAAAAY from NY :D lol
So i like the Stay Hungry era a lot because that's the first thing that i ever saw by TS.....and after it i kinda got into the band's life and music.....AWESOME BAND...........LOVE'EM

Seems to me when ever one of the minion were introduced to the Boyz that era seems to be the fav.
Which in my opinion IS A GREAT THING.

I think you are right, I've noticed alot of people saying this is their favorite because it was when they were introduced to TS, and me kinda too, my first TS album was Stay Hungry, probalby one reason why we disagree on the Stay vs. Still. lol
The song that did it for me, and made TS my all time favorite band was "Bad Boys" and "I Am I'm Me".

I knew of TS around the Stay Hungry era but was rather young and didn't really get into it. They split when I was about 10 and it wasn't until after that when I really came into it all. My first album being "Stay Hungry" and progressing from there to every other era. I said for years that if there was one band that I could see reunite I would want it to be TS. Then came NY Steel. As painful as the reason for that concert was, the result of and good things that were done through the show helped make it one of the greatest nights of my life. Having the opporunity to see to see the band, in any incarnation, several times since then helps make the reunion onward a great era for me. Best,
