Which of the 7 Drummers (Yes!,7!) is your favorite and why, and how do you think they helped the band?

They all played their part in the history of the band but in the end there is only one true drummer for Twisted Sister and that's is the sound of thunder himself, AJ Pero!

I have seen and heard them all, and i agree AJ is the best. He made the bad heavier if that's possible.

To me, there are drummers that are a part of the Twisted Sister story, but there is ONLY ONE TWISTED SISTER drummer...A.J. Pero...the Sound of Thunder!

It's true....all 7 played a part in TS history.... But, it was Tony that actually started the TS phenomenom with his "phone call " to JJ back in Jersey(.Even though he wasn't yet a part of the band). It was when he became the drummer that TS really took off in the LI club scene. They all were good drummers, but Tony was probably the hardest working of all. 1978-1981 was when TS played their best. He was "booted" in late '80, and TS was growing in popularity... but let's not forget the hard work the drummer at that period had to go through. Those club days were TS at their best. What came about later on was good for them commercially, but no where near as magical as their LI club scene days.Too bad Tony is not as appreciated as he should be. He deserves better... I know I'm new here... and Ill be blasted for this post... but facts are facts.

I heard Tony left voluntarily... He went on to play with the Plasmatics. Not sure if thats why he left. But being a long time fan, I remember Dee wishing him well during one of there shows....

Thats what I know...

And yes He played a part..... But he probably left the band cause he thought the Plasmatics were going somewheressss...!??

And besides Dee Was and IS the driving force of TS... Not the drummer... Drummers are a dime a dozen per say..

think about that mofo...

Read Dee's book. He called Tony drummer #3. He wouldn't name him. They didn't get along.

sorry mofo fountain.... but you are quite mistaken.... He got "BOOTED" and it's written that way for a reason. (Someone chime in if they know) Anyhow, mofo.... read the OP's subject title and the original post that was written.... Its about favorite drummers and why... not about who is the driving force. By the way, does anyone know if ti's true that Dee is the one who gave AJ his abbreviated name? Supposedly didnt even want to hear the name Tony/Anthony???

Hey Mofo Young Rocker..

I was in the crowd at a TS show when Dee was introducing the new drummer..early 1980s He clearly stated that nite on stage that Tony left TS to play with the plasmatics...In fact at the time of that TS show The Plasmatics were on TV like The midnight Special or something,...... and Dee asked the crowd if they saw Tony...on Tv...

So thats what happend....He QUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I doubt they threw him out one week, then he landed that gig with Wendy-O...your like who???? Wendy who?//ha hhhhaaa

Only JJ could come forward and clear things up..

My favorite drummer if you want to know was Fast Joey..

mofo... thanks for calling me a young rocker. You made me feel young again. Only I'm quite a bit older.... and female I knew Tony . we had a few times together, brick building next to Speaks... Regardless of whether he quit or got "BOOTED"... he was as JJ quoted " a Fan Favorite." Im talking late 70's not early 80's And as I recall, that's when TS made their mark on the LI scene. And Tony was the drummer. Dee has/had his issues with Tony,so take what he says/said at face value, and like it states here on this site... Tony was angry that he suspected of being replaced... his cymballs had to be taped to the floor that night at Detroits. Why would he be so angry, if he was going to leave on friendly terms and voluntarily? Like I said, he is not very well liked here, and I knew I was going to get slammed for this. By the way, a friend of mine still has the dress she got from Suzette ... Shows my " young rocker" age. Oh, and why do you seem so Angry?

Not sure why you thought you'd get slammed here...then again...people take their Twisted pretty seriously sometimes, huh? You are one of the early SMF's and are VERY welcome here! The more the merrier...

As for me, my friends turned me on to Twisted back in 80 or 81. They were all familiar with Tony, but by the time I was able to see them, Fast Joey was on his first or second gig with them, so it's all I ever knew. My friends even started to call ME fast Joey, and the name stuck, lol!

I never got to see Tony play. I loved FJ from the get-go and was sorry to see him go...it came as quite a shock to me as it didn't last all that long. Then AJ stepped in, and damn...the shoe fit. He just took it to the next level, and that was that...

So it's all good! And everybody needs to chill...a question was asked, so opinions are going to differ!

Yes,We need to chill...Brrrr( it's 19 degrees here in NY right now LOL).... youre not sure why I'd get slammed? see post 6 and 9.
I, like some others here (I believe), would really like to know the story of why JJ "FIRED" Tony.I remember hearing something about Tony, a "flying boot" and Dee . Next thing I know, Tony was no longer sitting behind the drums. Never saw or heard from him again.Heard about the WOW thing, but that was short lived. Many years later, I stumble onto" House of hair", and this site. But no matter what, no one is saying much except for the little time on the DVD where JJ briefly discusses the drummers.Hopefuly, this new movie will be more impartial, but I'm not holding my breath. The drummer history is or should be one of the most interesting topics of TS history, even if they are a dime a dozen ... per "SE" ( corrected spelling :) )
Rock10- you mentioned Dee's book, I didn't even know he wrote one.So after googling, I find several.Which one are you referring to that may discuss that topic?

Yes, Tony was indeed fired. You can read Dee's version of the events here. BTW you can buy the book ridiculously cheap online.

"Tony Petri was fired six months later for throwing a boot into Dee’s face, and we found A.J. Pero in 1982. After ten years we finally had the right people.” JJ French

Found that here: http://www.daveling.co.uk/doctwisted.htm

Thank you Vim Fuego... your link to the exact page of his book made it easy for me. When they were looking for him to go on , I now wonder if this was at Speaks. lol ... did anyone think of looking in the vacant small brick building right next door? I'm sure he had beenin there many times before and .... It would explain as Dee quoted... the smug grin on his face

I never knew that Fast Joey was in the Good Rats first...and that he was fired and immortalized in the song "Tasty". I always thought those lyrics were a tongue-in-cheek reference to their drummer Joe Franco, who coincidentally was also in Twisted many years later. He was never fired from them, I just thought it was a joke...

"We had a drummer named Joe
He played so fast we let him go
He ran away with all our songs
Now he's school where he belongs..."
