I'm sure JJ is a smart guy and made Giant contributions to the TS machine, but IMO if it wasn't for THE Smfking, Ts wouldn't have become very much without him.

Dee's the reason for the 12 million records sold and the Gold and Platinum awards....just sayin.

Personally since they all contribute in a major way, I dont see any reason to say this one did this or that, The band wouldnt be the same pretty much with out any of the major players. Jay is awesome, Back in the day he could blow you away with those awesome guitar solos. ( thanks for that by the way) that is for sure -- Eddie has become amazing as well -- kind of allways was. Mark has got it down , and so on and so on . this is why we love them --- They all do what they do, and really so much more.

Like Jim Hudson said, all of the band members are major contributors to the band's success.  There's is a lot to be said for synergy.  That said, Dee is without a doubt is the best front man and entertainer in the history (entire) of rock and roll, hands down.

As far as Dee "making" TS, well I look at it a little bit like the Big Bang Theory (not the TV show, the scientific theory).  I do believe that a bunch of stuff came together to create the awesome universe that spawned the earth and human kind.  Gases, solids, amoebas, whatever...but "something" had to put it all there to make it happen in the first place.  Who initiated the bang?  See what I'm sayin'??? Just food for thought.

When it comes down to selling records etc, its the SONGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dee wrote everyone of them....Thus it was his talent that made them what they were, Also his BS killed the band too! Nuff said.

It really is a combination of the guys in the band and their supporting crew.....

And I agree with Donna, Dee is a GREAT/AMAZING frontman. I've loved this total band and have since 1977, yes after Dee joined the band. This band is THE BEST LIVE show anywhere.

But if it was just Dee and the songs, why couldn't he replicate the glory with Widowmaker?

I read Dee's book and you get the sense that it takes a lot of effort, lots of guts, lots of energy, from many people both inside and outside the band to make it to the top. The band and many fans belive thier second album was the best, most of the world thinks the 3rd album is the best and only know those songs. Dee says he wrote all those songs in the the same time period, so why is one album much more popular? Was it the build up from the first to the second to the third album, was the timng just perfect, was the album support better? Lots of things go into making a popular album, including guitar leads, bass lines, and drum sounds. I use to buy Rainbow albums for Blackmore's guitar leads, from that I discovered RJD. It has to be the complete package, the writing, the song arragements, the song sound, the stage show, marketing, interviews, the album covers........ That's a lot of BS from someone who knows nothing about the music business.

Now I'll shut up.

Dee Snider is not Twisted Sister.

Twisted Sister is Dee Snider, the greatest frontman in heavy metal
Twisted Sister is the blistering guitar duo of Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda
Twisted Sister is the thunderous, pounding rhythm section of A.J. Pero and Mark Mendoza
Twisted Sister is an incredibly skilled and talented crew of engineers and technicians
Twisted Sister is an experienced and meticulous management team
Twisted Sister is hardcore, loyal fans all over the world who bleed pink and black.
Twisted Sister is the live experience of blowing every other band clear off the stage
Twisted Sister is 39 years of talent, dedication, hard work, blood, sweat, tears on their long way to the top.

You look at the band and you just see Dee.
It's just like seeing the ruins of the Parthenon in Athens, Greece.
People who appreciate what is before them will see it for what it is--the foundation of architecture--the historic cornerstone of design upon which all other forms of structural architectural were built for the generations after.
Those ignorant of its cultural significance will simply see a crumbling building.

You see a band member.
Real S.M.F.'s understand the band we know as Twisted Sister.

Well then, dear Mr. Bobcat09, not to appear argumentative but not everyone knows Dee is Twisted...I mean Twisted is Dee, or um...whatever.  I didn't realize that, hence my original post. However I must say that I do not stand corrected. No Jay Jay back in 1973, no Twisted.  No Twisted, no Dee. The Big Bang.  See how that works?

I give mad props to the inimitable Mr. Snider (see, I even spelled his name correctly!).  There are not very many people with his level of talent in the entertainment world in so many mediums, his devotion to family, his generosity to those less fortunate, his ability to motivate and captivate audience of over 80,000 people and literally have them in the palm of his hand and leave them begging for more (me included!) and yes I'll say it because I'm a chick, his most beautiful and soulful eyes. All this and the ability to be humble about it all while being the MOST RECOGNIZABLE member of Twisted Sister.

Heck when you think about it the front man (or woman as it were) is usually the most recognizable member of any band and the most sought after for their opinion, and usually appointed the spokesperson by the rest of the band and their management.  I guess that makes Brian Johnson, AC/DC.  Let's see what the Young brothers think about that.  But I digress.

That said, I do appreciate the distinction you placed upon me and many of our fellow SMFs by pointing out that by "caring" about the rest of the band that makes me hardcore!  I like the sound of that..."hardcore".  Been called a lot of things in my life, but never hardcore! Cool!

Anyway, my hardcore ass will be in PA on Saturday enjoying our very own Twisted Sister...the whole band.

God I miss this Slamboard sometimes

DCT--
that was flawlessly eloquent!

And given that you have been rocking out to Twisted since the earliest days....taken in thousands of performances...and produced some of the most incredible interviews ever captured with the "others" in the band that provided the rest of us a window into their lives and histories..... you...are hardcore!

hope to catch up with you in PA--safe travels, my friend.
