Serious SMF Posts: 39 | I've been away from the board for a while... Just wanted to say TWISTED SISTER is still the greatest Rock n Roll band in the world. No discussion necessary. Just stating a fact. My thanks to TS for doing what they do. Looking forward to the box set at Christmas.

Despite them being my favorite RNR of my lifetime, I'd have a difficult time trying to prove in court that they are history's best RNR band. But hell yeah! Lookin' forward to crankin that box set this winter!

Band Posts: 130 | Thank you for that vote of support. I believe that we are one of the greatest live rock bands of all time. but as far as our records are concerned I could list many bands (not solo artists) that are much more influential and groundbreaking. Lists are subjective and everyone has a right to claim any band or individual as the source of great musical and/or spiritual satisfaction. The mere mention of TS with any of the following bands is humbling. Here is a partial list of my faves Beatles Dave Clarke 5 the Rolling Stones the kinks Cream the Who Led Zep Pink Floyd Queen Jimi Hendrix Experience Alice Cooper Judas priest AC/DC Black Sabbath the Band the Beachboys Grateful Dead KISS the Move the Allman Bros. Creedence Clearwater ZZ Top the Eagles Just my opinion for starters......

Everyone here obviously has an affinity for Twisted Sister but I'm sure we've all got lots of great bands that have held some meaning for us. Being a musician myself, there's loads of them for me! This list is by no means all-encompassing but these are some of the big ones that impacted my playing and performance styles. Twisted Sister (of course!) Billy Sheehan (In any band he's been in. I play bass if you didn't figure that out from that statement.) Thin Lizzy AC/DC Black Sabbath Judas Priest Kiss (original line up) Gary Moore Metallica Van Halen (original line up) King's X Led Zeppelin Anthrax Aerosmith Queen Alice Cooper ZZ Top And many more but those are the big ones. Lots of memories over my lifetime while listening to these bands!

Serious SMF Posts: 39 | Great lists, great bands, all legends. I'll add a few of my favorites to the pre-TS first-album era: RAMONES THE RUNAWAYS RUSH DUST TRUTH AND JANEY THE DOORS THE CLASH MOTORHEAD IRON MAIDEN NY DOLLS SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE CHEAP TRICK But in all honesty Jay Jay--no B.S.--if I only owned one album, and that album was YOU CAN'T STOP ROCK N ROLL, I would be perfectly content. In my opinion it is a true rock n roll masterpiece.

I totally know what you mean, but "humbling" really seems like the opposite word. I think 'flattering' is more like it.

Nearly A Band Member Posts: 944 | Macedonian SMF - 2011-09-20 9:44 AM Stones? no way man.... simply no way...... how can you put Stones before Zeppelin, Purple, Pink Floyd or even Beatles? well for pink floyd and the beatles the never got on stage and just rocked out. zeppelin imo is the most overrated band in history. they ripped off songs and tried to get away without giving any royalties to the original artists although over the years thats changed with all of the lawsuits filed against them. page was pretty bad live and the fact he's released just about nothing in the last 30 years proved his borrowing of old blues tunes was his bread and butter
