Thanks for the link! Will be ordering my copy for sure!

A couple of quick observations, though.

1- I was really hoping for both nights. This appears to be the entire show from March 5th, 1983 with "Let The Good Times Roll/Feels So Fine" from March 6th thrown on to complete the set. I'd be lying if I'm not a little disappointed in this as the version of "It's Only Rock and Roll" from March 6th is by far the best and most memorable version of that song that I've ever heard (In my opinion anyway). That is the version from the 12" B-side of "I Am, I'm Me" that made me the SMF that I am today. With that said, I'm still very excited to see this getting released as these shows were both amazing! I just wish both nights were being released as a package. With that being said, this version of "Run For Your Life" is possibly the best version ever recorded as it kicks ass in a big way! Based on the clips, I do think that the mastering sounds much better than the versions that are included on "Big Hits and Nasty Cuts" as well. They sound closer (although not the same) as the original B-side releases from the 12" and 7" singles.

2 - The reviewer in the description needs to get their facts straight as he states "The album also includes the first ever public performance of “You Can’t Stop Rock ’n’ Roll,” which would surface just three months later on the band’s second album." This is not even close to true as the boys had been playing that song for quite some time already by the time these shows happened. They were playing YCSRNR back in the clubs before "Under The Blade" was even recorded. Now this may be the first time "I Am, I'm Me" was played live as I've never heard a live recording prior to this of that song. I cannot confirm that, though.

OK. So my quick observations turned into a bit of a rant. LOL! Either way, I'll be picking this one up and can't wait to hear it again professionally mastered in all of it's glory!! Thanks for releasing this gem and keep 'em coming!

It's on the Northstage DVD and that was from '82.

The statement refers to the first performance of the song after recording it. I gave the info to the label but didn't clarify that. That's my error, not the labels. I'm glad that some of you care enough to know this stuff. It means a lot to us.

Now admittedly I was only 8 years old in 1983, so I may be wrong, but I always thought that the version on I am I'm me was the one from the first night (March 5th), while the one on Big Hits was on the second night (March 6th), and the reason why I thought that was because the instructions Dee gives on that EP version are quite detailed on screeming, fist in the air & jumping, while on the Big Hits version people are doing that already. In addition, I thought he mentions something about it being their second night on the Big Hits version.

Anyway, I've been missing that EP version, so certainly hope that it's the one on this album, but regardless I'm really looking forward to getting the Live at the Marquee disc. Almost as much as I'm looking forward to seeing TS in Quebec city in less than a week!

be happy its a minor error. i own a rolling stones cd called rarities 1971-2003 on virgin records and the booklet has dozen of errors including listing a song as the wrong b-side, saying a song is from the album NO SECURITY when in fact its a live b-side from a decade earlier, saying 1 track was unreleased when its not and even saying 1 song was "rarely played live" which i guess is the truth since the song was NEVER played live.

I must say I totally agree. I also would have l-o-v-e-d to have both nights in one package even though the set lists were identical (apart from "Let the good times roll...") if I remember this correctly. On the other hand, let's be grateful for anything we get - every output might be the last, as sad as it may sound.

If I was to make a request , then I would ask for an entire live concert from the C.o.a.p. tour (2 CD + DVD package please :-) from the U.S. leg of the tour (Radio City maybe ???) because the stage was so much bigger and better than what we got here in Europe back then. This, for me, would be the icing on the cake (hope everyone notices that I don't even dare to ask for the same package from the L.i.f.s. tour - I don't wanna get banned from this forum here ;-).

Anyway, can't wait for the CD to arrive - it's history in a nice packaging.

Stay sick

Sadly, the COAP tour was never recorded for video or audio. It might have been had the tour lasted the original 6 months instead of 6 weeks. What ever exists of it is bootleg. no one is sadder about this then me.

maybe a fan who has decent footage or audio would be willing to sign a release form and turn it over to you with as long as they got a thank you in the booklet. i know a few other bands (maybe THE DOORS) have done this in recent years

Nope. That one was from the 6th. I can still pretty much recite Dee's rap word for word during the version from that "I Am, I'm Me" 12". LOL! It starts something like this…..

"Because it's 2 nights now we've been playing here and it’s just been our fuckin’ friends. There’s a few tourists, you know? They come down to stare at Twisted Sister. They come down to stare at the sick mutha fuckas. Cause they think we’re a bunch of freaks, you know? And they can just walk into this club and stare at the sick mutha fuckas, you understand? 'Cause they hear just how crazy your sick mutha fuckas are. People talk about you, you know that? They talk about you. They say, "Have you ever been to a Twisted Sister Show?" And people go "NO". And they say, "Oh man, you ain't seen shit til you see those sick mutha fuckas going out of their damn minds on the floor!" So we got a reputation to live up to, you know what I'm saying? I don't wanna let these assholes down!"”

I could go on but you all get the picture. That song and Dee's rap changed my life forever. Don’t get me wrong. Both nights are amazing! You can’t go wrong with either but that version of “It’s Only Rock and Roll” holds a special place for this SMF. The one time that I was fortunate enough to see them play “It’s Only Rock and Roll” is one of my all-time favorite TS moments. There’s something about their version of that song that just blows me away. It probably has something to do with the fact that I feel like I’m 15 again sitting in my bedroom blasting that EP in my room. LOL!

Play it loud Muthas!!!

You are correct! And I have just one last thing to say.

"Cause if there's one thing that scares the shit outta straight mutha fuckas it's screamin', jumpin, fist throwin' mutha fuckas! You understand? You understand? So we're gonna scare the shit out of the straights now."

Welcome to the church of Twisted Sister! LOL!

Oh yeah, I forgot about that "it's 2 nights" thing. I used to be able to quote that whole rant myself, but it's been a long time since I've been able to play that album (still have the record, but no record player). My favourite part is when Dee say "they're the type of people who wind up killing their mother and father with an axe, one day they go home and it's mom..dad.AHHHH..and they kill the mother fuckers, you know what I'm saying. And then they write about them in the star and say..he was a quiet boy...he was a quiet boy... well fuck being quiet!". Love that rant. Oh well, was kind of hoping that was from the first night for the reasons I wrote before, but perhaps one day I'll get that on CD.

wait a second... [inject sound of needle across a turntable...]

six weeks? That's all?
....holy crap...37 cities in 6 weeks? Absolutely astounding. That's essentially a performance in a different city every single night. You are indeed, the iron men of rock and roll. Fuck me, that's a heavy tour schedule. And my dream tour. Line something like that up again, and I swear, I'll tie my truck to the tour bus fender and take a 6-week mental health leave of absence.

OKAY...so you can see what I'm talking about.... these are the show cities listed on the back of the tour shirt...NOT in order of tour...
Binghamton
New Haven
Pittsburgh
Rochester
Philadelphia
Glens Falls

Mark me down for Portland! If I remember correctly, that was the first show of the tour. It was at least very early in the tour. I know that much. January 10th, 1986! It was snowing out and I stood outside waiting for the doors to open up in a t-shirt because I was going down front and didn't want to deal with my jacket down there. LOL!!!

Largo, MD was January 8, 1986 if memory serves me correctly.... I just wore my denim jacket (which I put on when I was 14 and finally took it off a few years after I graduated college....only to put it back on again in 2003.....) It was snowing big time, and I was FREEZING. I came down with flu two days later and was sick for two weeks....I remember I put my concert tee, bandanna and program next to my bed, and I every time I felt crappy, I would just look at them and smile.

I have to admit that occasionally, I still pull out the Twisted Sister memorabilia when I need a lift....when the tour is over, I'm framing my vest. At this point, it could probably walk itself to the frame shop. Perhaps I need a little febreeze before Canada....

Yes, they played in Europe. I think the gig on 20.06.1986 in Finland was one of the last, if not the last, dates of the tour.

Hey everybody,

can anyone confirm that all these dates actually did happen ? If I'm not totally wrong the U.S. leg was cancelled halfway through the tour due to poor ticket sales. Still, to this day, I have no clue what dates actually did take place and which didn't even though I'm pretty sure that all the west coast dates were cancelled. Maybe someone here on this board can tell for sure.

About Jay Jay's comment regarding recordings of the tour I can only say "what a pitty". I was hoping for some yet undiscovered and unheard soundboard recordings (Animal's or Charlie's vaults maybe ???). I mean, c'mon, at least the two Hammersmith shows in March MUST have been taped.

So, any information is highly welcome - thanks in advance.

Stay twisted everybody

I never heard of this date - very interesting, indeed. This date was not THE last as they did at least two more shows in Italy on 23. and 24.06.86. If there were any dates after those......I don't know.

To my knowledge the Italy dates were the last ones. That show in Finland was the only one they did here in the eighties. Great thing is that we've now gotten a lot more!

It would be so cool to see the COAP tour on DVD, sad to hear nothing exists. Maybe there's still hope that something is found somewhere, I don't know.

Here's an interview in Finland where Dee speaks about his time in Finland in the 80-es... on a festival of Lights or something like that..... he remembers well, that you Finnish guys were the most drunk nation he ever saw....

i put this some time ago on youtube, that is my channel

enjoy:

Those were the cities listed on the American tour shirt, so it's entirely possible that they did NOT play those dates.... I know they played Europe because fans have posted here about them before. There's only one man who has the complete date archive..... we all know who that is....

perhaps when the tour ends, and Jay Jay gets all reminiscent.... it would be awesome to see the full, unadulterated, complete listing of every single Twisted Sister show from 1973 to 2016. (wishful thinking.)

COAP never made it to the west coast. It ended in Dallas the day of the space shuttle Challenger disaster.

If this comes to fruition, It will be a boxed set of some of this year's releases, but all in one set. I believe he described it as a "roadie" case....in time for Christmas. So I'm envisioning maybe it will come packaged in a black box with rivets and buckles like those cases they pack the guitars and amps in..... Don't know what will be in it exactly, I'm sure we'll hear more in the months to come. Either way, there has so much good stuff out there lately--almost hard to keep up with it all!

Sounds cool! Can't wait to hear more. Hopefully it will have some a little something special in there for those who have already bought these disc the first time around. Given that Jay Jay never disappoints, I'm confident that he's got something up his sleeve! Bring it on!

WHOAH!!!! Hold on there.
Having bought the orignal CDs back in the 80's and then bought the Spitfire remasters back in the early 2000's and NOW having bought this years new remasters AND all the DVDs over the last decade, they'd better NOT take the piss by adding any additional material to this boxset if it does turn out to be a collection of everyting released so far.
That's not fair to the fans who DO buy stuff when it comes out and there are far too many companies doing this kind of shit and I hope that Twisted Sister aren't one of them.

Pisses me off something rotton when a "Tour "CD comes out six months after the original album release and includes a bonus disc with a few extra track on it. As a "fan", I bought it when the album came out and don't see why i should be (punished) and forced to buy it AGAIN.
As an Alice Cooper fan, I'm going to buy his new album next month, NOT wait six months incase he does (another) expanded edition to reward those "non-fans" who didn't buy it when it first came out!

Reward the loyal fans, not the "not really a fan"....

hold your horses there, Pootle! we won't know what's to come until we get something formal--no sense getting your spandex all twisted over nothing. Enjoy all of the fantastic releases that are coming at us fast and furious, and let's look forward to more good things to come.

I can only tell as someone who bought the re-mastered Stay Hungry AND the re-mastered Under The Blade...both were DEFINITELY still treats for me as a fan, even though I had already purchased both of those albums before, and more than once. (Secret, Atlantic, picture disk, etc.)

First off...nobody has to ever buy anything. Its a choice. Secondly, a box set goes usually to those who have waited to buy everything all at once. The box set coming out will have 4 dvd's that have been released and one new DVD. I have no idea who owns what. Some fans may own 1 or 2,3 or all 4. it's impossible to know.
The reasons why the new DVD is packaged together has to do with legal issues that were placed on the label. That is why the bonus disc could not be sold on it's own. It can be sold on it's own in a year from December if you want to wait. The package looks really cool though. I have to say.

Having said that, I think that we have done an amazing job of releasing the kind of product that the fans have been waiting for for years. I hope that it all is appreciated as much as the work to get it out.

Well, that really DOES take the biscuit.
So, as a loyal TS fan who buys product as soon as it comes out, I'm getting penalised in favour of the (can we even call them fans???) people who don't buy straight away!??

I'm not going to blame the band as it may not have been their fault/idea, I'll blame the record company who have decided to do it this way.
But as a loyal fan I shouldn't be expected to think "shall I buy the release on Monday when it comes out, or should I wait 12 months in the hope that a boxset is released (because it doesn't always happen you know!) with extra material?"
This kind of crap doesn't exactly tempt fans to buy product on initial release does it, and if fans don't buy on initial release then the record companies aren't inclined to release any more product, so the FANS get shafted either way!

It's about time the god damn record companies started being loyal to the hardcore fans who buy straight away and not those who wait to buy cheap in a sale 12 months later only to find they can then buy a boxset of those items with extra content!

You know. Is there ANYBODY on this forum who considers themselves a hardcore Twisted Sister fan and hasn't been and bought all the DVDs and remasters this year?
I'm a stay at home Dad with a 13 month old child, so I don't work and don't get state handouts and I've damn well scrimped and saved to get enough money together to buy this years stuff on initial release because I'm a FAN.
Seems I should have saved my hard-acquired money and waited.

If what Jay Jay says is true and the bonus disc WILL be released on it's own in December 2012, then at least that's progress compared to lots of other companies who don't do that.
The only downside is that this situation will simply encourage bootlegging and downloads of the bonus disc.
I'll certainly be looking out for a free download/bootleg, but me being a stupid fan will still buy it next year when it comes out on it's own. How many other people will do that though? Not many you can bet.

i consider myself a hardcore fan and the only thing i've purchased by TS this year is the new version of UNDER THE BLADE and i traded in my old spitfire version because i have limited cd space and i wanted the original SECRET mix more. that being said i'll buy the 2 dvd set that was released this summer soon but there is a lot of new music coming out by other bands too. i own the older spitfire reissues of every album, big hits, the new under the blade, club daze 1 and 2, live at hammersmith, live at astoria, live at wacken dualdisc version, twisted x-mas, video years dvd, still hungry, stay hungry 25th anniversary and the twisted x-mas dvd. if thats not enough i own axes 2 axes, both widowmaker albums, never let the bastards wear you down, dee sniders SMF's live and the desperado album the old 1996 expensive version on destroyer records.

that being said no one is forcing me to buy anything and i usually don't buy remasters just for an improvement in sound. the new remasters have the same bonus tracks as the older ones and i am happy with what i have.

sorry like jay jay said no need to get all angry because a record label put something in the bands contract about an exclusive dvd for a boxset. happens all the time and i own 1200+ cd's and boxsets so i know sometimes the record label screws the fans but oh well

Yo, whoever lead you to believe that is how a fan is determined is very mistaken. Go back and slap them.

I don't think anyone here who knows me personally, and there are quite a few, would dispute that I'm a hardcore fan. Maybe if I was a kid I woulda jumped on buying these the day of. But nowadays time flies, and when I heard that there would be a few releases this year I thought it would make me feel like a kid again if I were to open them under the tree like I did with the COAP record. I had to hide my purchase of the cassette from my parents all year. Plus, I never know what to ask for for Xmas so this is perfect. Maybe if the material was completely new songs I woulda bought them right away, but it's not. We've heard most of these tunes a million times.

I can compare it this way too. I'm just not the type of person who has the impulse to see my favorite horror icon movie the day it comes out. I can't stand crowded theaters so I will wait till it's been out for a while and then see like an early Wednesday showing. I'll ask the ticket teller how many seats are in the theatre and what percentage is sold before determining whether or not I'll go in. And if I never make it in...big friggin deal, I'll see it on DVD when it comes out.

If I had the money I'd be traveling the world right along with Terry seeing Twisted every chance I could get. But I don't have the funds or the scheduling flexibility to do that.

I feel for ya tho, Pootle50, and your anger is somewhat justified but you're being judgmental and that's where this gets cloudy. If EVERYONE who was gonna buy these albums bought them when they first came out would you be less upset?

Right there with ya boys, you damn right I'm gonna get that box set! Maybe I can swap them overseas for some of their goodies... maybe we'll run across a fan who couldn't afford a copy of his or her own, and we can make THEIR Christmas a little bit happier....there are plenty of perks to having a backup copy. Shit, I've played my CDs so much they will probably wear out at some point and I'll need that 2nd copy.....

I love each and every thing that comes out--this has been a great year for Twisted! Keep 'em coming!

And I love having travel buddies J-Man, makes the travel go easier! (I'm going for the world record--I've maxed two cards on the last tour! You only live once.....and if I do it right, once will be enough!)

Eagle Rock/Armoury has been great to us. Almost every idea we have they acted upon. There is no blame to be passed around. That is just ridiculous. We created a box set which is a special holiday product. if the product looks good to you, then buy it. If it fits your needs needs then buy it. If it doesn't then....don't. I own so many of nearly the same versions of Beatles, Stones, Hendrix and Led Zep. I love collecting. I love holding the stuff and looking at it. I'm a fan and collector.
Our DVD box set contains the bonus DVD of A Twisted Christmas in Las Vegas. Along with it are some very cool additional items including a Christmas ornament, vintage backstage pass, classic pin and a copy of the very first SMF newsletter sent out over 30 years ago.

Like I said, if it appeals to you, buy it, if not, don't. It ain't worth arguing about. We live in a free society....thank God!

We live in a free society....thank God!

thanks for the info.

i preordered it and then 6 days later they reversed my payment back to my card and then a day after they told me it shipped they took the money back. i emailed them 3 days ago to find out who won the autographed copies and have heard nothing back either. and i havent got a shipping confirmation email either. id call them and ask them about it like i did and they should be able to tell you whats goin on.

Mine arrived today. Rhino isn't sending out shipment confirmation emails, apparently. The CD sounds great, and the packaging is much bigger than you'd expect-nearly album cover sized.

The Club Daze Era (78-83) was my favorite era of the band, and I'm thrilled with the amount of early shows that have been released this year. More, please!

Got mine today...playing it right now....

Gotta say....the gatefold sleeve is friggin' awsome!! Nice job Rhino!!

The recordings have been spruced up....presumably by Mr Mendoza.....fabulous work....much, much clearer than the old vinyl releases.

And the songs...with some long hidden away surprizes, complete with all the appropriate 'raps'......have me grinning from ear to ear....stunning choice boys...stunning....

Christmas came early. Very, very happy today. J.J...you did good...real good!!!! Thank you TS....this has been an awsome year.

Now if we can just get those Christmas shows...... :-P

I hate to say this.... but has anyone else had problems with their CD? I'm going to try a different CD player tomorrow night. Halfway thru, my CD kept cutting out and skipping in spots. Here's hoping it's just my CD player on the fritz and not another Rhino CD issue....

Up to that point, it was absolute GLORIOUS--I loved every frickin' second of it! Absolutely mammoth--what a gift to the fans!

Terry

No issues with mine, but I am going to sit back and play it all the way through eight or nine times....just to make sure....checking it just for you mate....

See you at the Christmas shows which JJ is just about to announce anytime now.......

Y'know....Right now....I am on TS overload!!! The amount of quality TS material that has been released this year is staggering......no dross, no "filler" nothing half baked, nothing half-assed about any of it. Has me wondering what else is in the archives.....

If TS want an idea of what to do next.....rework/redo LIFS....as TS......issue it in the same way with Rhino (who have done a wonderful job with the Marquee recordings).....and...(I have said this before...) there is all the Widowmaker/Desperado stuff to play with as well.

It must now be evident to the band that as long as they keep releasing this stuff, we will keep buying it!! We are all Still Hungry ('scuse the pun) for more. The boys have many things going on, especially Dee, but there has to be a big enough interest in the band for them to put out this much stuff.
Of course, the bit I do not know is how many units have sold.....I am sat here wondering why every metal head in the world is not playing this right now....OK...I am biased.....just a little.....

I always wanted these recordings. Now I have them. I am very happy about that (can you tell...I only waited 29 years....)

Maybe I am just too giddy this morning!! Too much coffee and the Marquee show is belting out full blast!!!

I will go take my medicine.....

Halleluja !!!! My copy finally arrived today and from what I can see from the customs declaration sticker on the envelope it got posted Sept. 22, so it took 9 days in the mail. Not lightning speed but at least the cover arrived in one piece without any damages (which I did not expect after seeing the envelope in my mail box).

Thanks again to everyone involved.

Indeed, it's great to have a complete show of those truly historical gigs but on first listen, I noticed that not all songs seem to be from the March 5 show, as stated by Rhino. Before "Detroyer" Dee refers to the show of the night before so this is clearly the recording from March 6 and I also think that the version of "It's only R'n'R" is from March 6 but I would have to check both shows song by song to be absolutely sure about which song is from which date.

At the end of the day all this doesn't matter as we get TS in their prime here and it's a great piece of music history.

Hope there's more of that kind to come.

I'm hoping mine comes on Monday. I saw my charge to through last week, but I haven't received mine yet.

Just wondering which "It's only Rock and Roll" is it? The one from Big Hits or the B side from the I am I'm Me EP?

The songs are amazing and the raps are just as i remember them from the club days. If you don't have it, go buy a copy

As far as the release of the Marquee shows are concerned, the only involvement we had was that we told the record company that the shows existed and were in their vaults. That's right....they didn't even know they had them. An A&R rep from the company, Mason Williams, was assigned to our catalog several years ago and has been very helpful in getting the Video Years and San Bernadino material released. I can tell you that if Eagle Rock/Armoury had not done such a fantastic job with the re-masters and DVD's, and the concurrent world wide growth of our popularity due to our never ending world tours, then Rhino wouldn't have stepped it up to make such a cool package.
The mastering was all done by Rhino though. The packaging was a joint creation and i'm very proud of it. Mason really was the one, however, who got the powers that be at Warner Music/Rhino to appreciate what they had.

This has been one amazing year for our fans and the Eagle Rock/Armoury 5 DVD box set should end the year on a very high note. What the reunion did was to finally make enough people realize what we brought to the would of heavy music. It has been our pleasure to make you all as happy as possible during these most trying of economic times.

Well Thank You to Mason Williams, Rhino, Eagle Rock/Armoury, You Jay Jay, Mark, The Band and everyone else concerned in getting the fantastic products that have been produced the last few years. I finally have CDs and DVDs to share with my family and friends to show them why I love this band. From the pictures they have seen online and in magazines at the time, none of them could understand my attraction to this band. Now they are starting to understand the music, the shows, the raps....Some how I think the makeup overshahowed this band for people who weren't fans and didn't see a live show. I played the Marquee shows to friends and family on Saturday night at my house, they all enjoyed the CD, of course some of them took a step away from me when they heard the raps.

I wish the Marquee show was also a DVD. You got it right, I like having the raps segregated from the songs, this way if i want to play live TS songs without the raps I can. The package is outstanding, everyone involved with this project did a Great job. Thank you all.

Question: is this being sold in stores? I was at J&R on Monday of this week and didn't see it in the CD section.

I only ordered 1 though, so somehow I got an extra, maybe the people who won the pre-order contest get a whole extra copy, I was just under the impression that the one you ordered would be signed. Either way, I'm stoked!

Same thing happened to me; after receiving my original one at the time of release, I was ECSTATIC to find a signed one in my mailbox when I got home from work yesterday! I must admit to being quite pleased, as my original one arrived bent due to the mailing envelope being somewhat rolled to fit in my mailbox.

So do I.

Well the first one took nine days so, who knows, maby in 5 or 6 days some people this side of the pond will find a surprise in their mail boxes too.

OK this is great news....maybe there is one headed my way
I have been without power since Saturday morning because of the snow storm, i had to come to work today to get warm and get an internet connection. So getting a signed TS CD would be a nice way to end the week.
