Extreme SMF Posts: 190 Location: Austria | Hmm... well, what else is new? They keep saying that every year and I think everyone is aware that it could stop any time. But still... it would be nice that, once they know they won't continue, they would announce 1 (or more) farewell shows somewhere in (the) New York (area). I would definitely cross the pond for that.

Road Reporter Posts: 1729 Location: Baltimore, MD | I knew this day would come, and it fills me with sadness. I am in a theatre production--we started rehearsals tonight--and I promised I'd be in town at the end of July. I'm going to have to go to the director tomorrow, to see if there is an understudy for me, because I can't let it end this way. I want to make as many shows as possible if this is truly the last hurrah. I cried tonight. There will be many tears over the next few months. This band and the fans have been family to me.

Location: Rocking In The Florida Dark ! | Thank you Urosh for posting this! Very interesting. Well to me the good news here is Jay Jay didnt say this is absoultely the end. I agree and hope they can keep on going. I know one member that would play forever -- BTY -- Way to go my friend, and while everyone in TS is a great rocker, To me you definately get my Kudos for having such a wonderful spirit and passion for this stuff ! I hope you keep going on your own too!-- Its great stuff! So I hope I get a chance to Rock with TS again before its all said and done. That would be more than very cool ! Extreme SMF Posts: 158 | Hey all Easy people, easy.....JJ only talks about the possibilities, not the certainties. He says it 'could' end this year (at the end of the festival season) not it 'will' end. As long as it remains interesting, fun and does not affect their respective outside interests.....we will be OK......for now. I do sense the end is in sight. Just not yet. AS JJ says, they have nothing to prove anymore. As artists, they have stretched their wings into different areas of the business, especially Dee. As new opportunities present themselves, you have to start taking note of their worth. Old interests will eventually take a back seat, especially as you get older and the ground has been covered more than once. There are a few countries they would want to visit, some more Christmas shows and then maybe some farewell gigs. I too would love the 40 year thing. Thats puts them in the same league as the Stones, Kiss, Aerosmith etc as bands with a very long history and who lasted the game. Not many bands can claim the 40 year milestone, especially in line-up terms. They have the others beat on that score. But thats hardly a reason to continue gigging. It has to be enjoyable, not a grind. It could be a long wind-down to that point, or it could be a quick goodbye and a sudden stop. I think it will be the former, not the latter. I bloody hope so anyway!! I do not think TS would do that to the fans. They would announce it, celebrate it, party like crazy and bow out with style.....with us all there. Or they may never fully retire the band...just keep the odd gig here and there.....just for kicks, for the fun, for the party. Semi retirement.....the odd festival, maybe a once a year biker type bash. A TS version of Sturgis....you never know.... gain a 'patch' every time you go.....yeah...I like that idea!! JJ...you paying attention? It will be a sad day in my life when all this ends. I wouldn't be here in the US if it wasn't for TS anthems ringing around my head. Thats a fact!! Stay Hungry was, and is, my mantra. Always will be. So...fellow SMF's....keep your fingers crossed, be thankful....and make the most of everything you have got left. The party 'aint over till the man in drag sings!! Evel Az

Nearly A Band Member Posts: 944 | not to knock twisted sister but to say they are now in the same league as the rolling stones, rush, zz top, etc. is not true. these are bands that for 40+ years have been touring every year and releasing new material every couple of years. twisted sister wasn't even a band for about 15 years. not knocking them because THE WHO already do this. they released a boxset in the 90's called 30 years of maximum r&b when in fact they had only been an active band for about 18 years at that point. Full-On SMF Posts: 75 Location: UK | Hmmmm. Looks like I'm gonna have to swallow then and fork out some serious money just to see one band at a festival. Personally, I hope they do a proper WORLD tour if they're gonna call it a day, then we can all see em as many times as we can afford in our own countries.

Road Reporter Posts: 1729 Location: Baltimore, MD | Hey Evel Here's the thing, though-- it only takes one member of the band to say "I'm done" and they're done....and I suspect that Dee just has too many other enticing projects to want to keep touring. I'm going to try to be optimistic but I will treat each show like it's the last......and pray for some Bent Brother shows to keep the dream alive.

Extreme SMF Posts: 158 | Guys Terry...agreed. Although as Dee gets some of the "distractions" done with....eg the TV show, Rock of Ages...and as some work and some do not (he dropped the reality show himself I believe) he will hopefully keep the "basics" like TS going, simply because its "bread and butter" work, keeping the back catalog moving etc. TS feeds in well with the House of Hair, so it might just propel the whole thing along. But you are right....it only takes one, and I think Dee is the most likely. But also remember he kept things going even as a solo artist....Dee Sniders SMF's etc. He is...after all...a singer. And good singers find it hard to give up. As for the 40 year thing, I take your point. But I am not going to split hairs. There was activity....re-releases, "Best of''s " etc. The same happened to Aerosmith, who's career was revived by...of all things....pairing up with a rap group (Run DMC and "Walk This Way) Up to that, Aerosmith were has beens, strung out on drugs and scandal. They really earned the moniker the Toxic Twins etc. Look at Motley Crue now. Bursts of activity, with long periods of silence (and more scandal) inbetween.. I guess my point is that at forty years, the band gets together and still go out and play their asses off....just like the Stones, Aerosmith, ZZ Top etc, etc. I wasn't debating the amount of activity. Just the fact they are still out there. How do you define it really? You can't. Except by saying...they are still out there. At the end of the day, we are all guessing. We are all dreading the day. However, there are some realities to the deal which keep the band coming back. So called "hair bands...heavy metal...whatever you want to call it...is still in a huge revival...(look at the new material from Whitesnake and Def Leppard...outstanding stuff. As good as ever) Its still as popular as ever and the festival "circuit" is still growing and is still as enticing to bands like Twisted Sister. Especially when new festivals in new countries crop up (Greece and Russia this year!!) They have just released a revised version of Under the Blade along with a DVD of Reading...the TS machine is quite definitely active!!!! Now would not be the time to stop!! They need to plug the new releases!!! Y'know...we should all be in a bar discussing this!!! (Whilst waiting for TS to appear on stage.......) What a discussion that would be!! Peace people. Nearly A Band Member Posts: 944 | aerosmith wasn't inactive though. they released 4 albums of new material in the 80's as well as 2 live albums and 2 hits compilations. they were and are still an active band. i don't count releasing hits and live albums and archive material as being an active. if thats the case THE DOORS has been going strong since 1965 or THE GRATEFUL DEAD since jerry died 16 years ago. there is a difference between saying its the 40th anniversary of the band and saying the band has been together for 40 years

Nearly A Band Member Posts: 1321 Location: on a Twisted planet | Evel, i'm with you on this one.... i agree with you (exept for the part that they play in new countries like Greece... they playes 2 times already there, few years ago) my opinion on Dee is that he does lot's of stuff, he is VERY active man, BUT a fact is that his career went up again when TS reunited... i think i'm right on this one... He's more on TV cause of TS, playing in shows e.t.c..... If they stop, Dee will be still active with his lots of things, but would not be noticed as much as now... firstly, he's a Rockstar..... the best singer according to me.... i wouldn't like to see him stop singing, and i think if TS would do new stuff album, would be a kickass album, new songs, honest songs cause they haven't made one long time ago, it would feell like first time for them.... i'm seeing them in 2 weeks and i CANNOT FUCKIN WAIT

Extreme SMF Posts: 158 | Terry ...and the second one is on me!!! Wish I was seeing the band soon :-( Not seen them since we saw them in Vegas 2009. I have withdrawal symptoms tssmf4lyfe... you are splitting hairs again.....I'm not sure what all the caps are all for, but ah well., Sorry dude, I didn't realize we were in some kind of debate to determine how we decide if a band is still viable or if my vernacular is correct. Feel free to use whatever yardstick you wish, but its not an argument I am interested in. After (nearly) 40 years, TS are still out there and thats absolutely fine by me. Peace people Evel Az

Road Reporter Posts: 1729 Location: Baltimore, MD | Well the flights to Finland just jumped literally about $800 USD in just a few days, so I'm still trying to make this all work..... Just getting a good flight to Greece is proving challenging enough! Oh wouldn't it just SUCK if the last show really is in Grand Junction, CO? I'm sorry to all the nice folks of Colorado...but I have this terrible image in my head of Twisted playing some outdoor festival to folks wearing goofy ski hats and Birkenstocks..... and that will be my last memory of them...

The fans have been itching for new material for so long now. A new back to basics Under The Blade style album of this era. Twisted....if you're gonna end it please end it the right way and satisfy true SMFs wishes for one last kick ass rock n roll album.

A little birdie told me there MIGHT be a Vegas show, if so, then I will hit that, if not, then...... ....Many Twisted Thanks to Jay Jay, Dee, Eddie, Animal, AJ and Danny Stanton for EVERYTHING you guys did for us and yourselves these past 10 years!!!
