Does anybody here have Metallica's new album Death Magnetic? I think its great, deffentally better than anything theyve done since the 80s. That Was Just Your Life, Broken Beat and Scarred, All Nightmare Long, and The Judas Kiss are some of the bands best work IMO.

i listened to it but don't own it. riffs sound recycled, there is noticeable clipping in the songs and it just sounds forced. sounds like metallica wants to make another kind of music but instead did this album to make people happy. wrong reason to make music. if you are making music do what makes you happy. that said its still better than st anger

A friend of mine has an extra copy of it. He's sending me it through the postal service. This will be the first time I actually don't buy a 'tallica release. And I've bought every 'tallica cd except Ride the Lightning. Glad to hear it's getting more credit than Anger.

Got a copy the other day.

Really like it. MUCH better than St Anger (of which I only got up to track 3 before binning). Sounds much more like 'old school' Metallica and a natural successor to ...And Justice for All....

It's way better than St. Awfull. But they would really have achieved something if it was worse....

The only way St. Anger could have been worse would be if Frantic was cut from the album....that is the only song even remotley worth it on St. Anger....some of the other songs COULD have been good but just arent...DM was a BIG jump, defentally the best albums since Justice IMO.

So far my favorite song on the album is "That was just your life". It makes a good "driving to work" song when you're dealing with that heavy city traffic!

"Almost like your life,
Almost like your endless fight,
Curse, the day is long,
Realize you don't belong,
Disconnect somehow,
Never stop the bleeding now,
Almost like your fight,
And there it went,
Almost like your life!

THAT WAS JUST YOUR LIFE!!!"

i wont get it. every album they put out since "...and justice for all" was trash. but i did get st. awful. what a waste of $13.95. metallica hasn't been the same since Cliff passed. jason was good, but he wasn't as good as Cliff. their new bassist is from Ozzy's band & plays more like Cliff than jason ever could. but the songs on st. anger where just bad. IMHO.

but since some of ya'll are sayin its more like their '80's stuff i'll check it out.

go out & FIND "ride the lighting" you wont regret it.
i even had the japanese release of "jump in the fire" at one point in my life. now i don't have any of them.

Actually DM sounds nothing like St. Anger, thank God....
and I have Ride The Lightning its good, but i like DM better...
but nothing will ever top Master of Puppets IMO
